Deep Cut Blade for Cricut

I spent 10 minutes in J's this AM holding both blades in my hand. Finally I just went with the regular blade because I didn't want to spend the $$ for the more expensive blade AND the new blade housing you need to get to use it.

Good question. :thumbsup2 I would really like to know this too!

Morgansmom2000 - Please let us know how it works out.

Thanks

I haven't broken out my deep blade housing but I don't ever have trouble cutting Bazzill- in fact I cut bling this afternoon on a depth of 4 and it was as smooth as can be (light blue in color). I wonder why different machines are so off on the way it can cut the same paper.

The bling cuts better than say grasscloth. It's the texture of the paper that throws off the Cricut. The more grainy, cloth like the paper, the harder it is to cut.

I have a problem with the blingy coordinate's paper from JoAnns. No matter how sticky my mat is, the paper slides around. I have to tape it down it keep if from moving. My Bazzill Bling doesn't do that at all. I think I just have bugs. :sad2:

I get that too, with the Joann's bling. Does yours curl too? I have to store mine upside down so that it doesn't curl up (and even then, it doesn't help much).

Yes they curl. I'd have to use the tape just to keep the ends down even if they didn't slide around like crazy. Glad it isn't just me.

I keep my paper flat, so I put other ones on top to contain the curl.

The gemstones Core'dinations? They curl like crazy and never stay put! I never thought of taping them down, good idea.

I'm cropping tonight. Planning on using Bazzill and Core'dinations, I'll try the deep cut housing and blade and report back (if I can figure out their wireless, I'll report from there ;) ).

Well, I tried it with the deep blade and with the regular blade. The deep blade skipped a couple times and I had to cut some spots with my scissors (actually, I made Holly do that, it was for a card she was making ;) ). So, I was not overly impressed with the deep blade and Bazzill. I did cut some with the regular blade and it cut just fine (no skips, nothing). It wasn't overly intricate stuff, but it cut fine. Pressure was on max, and the number on the blade housing it self was 4 1/2.

HTH,

Thanks Jennifer. Saves me some money and puts an end to that lingering thought.

Has anyone cut chipboard with the regular blade? I was thinking of buying the deep blade and housing and doing my own chipboard letters.
