Just got my confirmation for a dedicated value studio. Is "dedicated studio" redundant? I mean, that's the only option for studio, right?

I think sometimes 2 bedroom villas are 1 studio plus 1 bedroom, so in that case, the studio would be a lock-off.

No...a studio can be a lock off too. It would have an additional door leading into a 1BR next door. A dedicated studio wouldn't have that door.

Actually, in DVC, MOST studios are lock offs. Very few are dedicated.

There are 8 dedicated Value studios, 4 facing the Sunset Savanna and 4 facing the pool area. In theory, getting a dedicated Value studio (rather than a lockoff) means you will avoid the parking lot view, provided the room assigner honors that part of your reservation. We've had no reports to the contrary for the Value studios.

Many (but not all) of Jambo House's dedicated studios have a little broom closet where the connecting door would have been so the ironing board, vacuum cleaner, etc. will be stored there instead of in the wardrobe. So if you get one of the dedicated studios that has a closet, you will have a little extra storage space in your room.

family of 5 thinking 2 studios value would be cheaper than the 1 bedroom standard [since we can't do value 1 bedroom]...could we get connecting studios if we rented points? Probably can't but worth a shot. We'd save 40 points.

The only thing studios connect to is a 1BR. There are some dedicated Value studios that are right next door to one another but there is no way to guarantee you would get assigned to those two studios. You would have to go out into the corridor to go from one to the other.

Such a shame that there's not a good DVC option for families of 5. We stayed at POLY which was slightly larger at 400 sf and it was great with the balcony for our family. The POR is smaller and allows 5...just so annoying.

We'll just have to start leaving one kid at home. LOL.

This makes me very happy! I have a Dedicated Value Studio for 5 nights in October (I just double-checked the paperwork!) So that means either the savannah or pool? Sweet!

Maybe, maybe not. I had a dedicated studio reserved for January but when I got my room it was not a dedicated studio. Once I got in my room and saw it was a great location, I was not going to go downstairs and try to change my room. Since I had never stayed at AKV (Jambo house) I had no idea how the room was set up. I guess that door near the kitchen should've been the first indication that the room was not dedicated. I did check my confirmation and it did indeed say a dedicated studio, but when I got home, I logged on, and my reservation had been changed online and it no longer said I stayed in a dedicated studio. Hopefully you'll get what you want and reserved.

Just got back and our dedicated studio ended up being a lockoff studio with a parking lot view. Oh well, we were there only one night, so no bigggie.
