We are planning a trip to our home resort in 2010 for my DS's college graduation and are looking at a GV versus two 2 bedrooms. We will be at SSR. Can we get a guarantee of a dedicated 2 bedroom instead of a lockoff that has only one real bed in the second bedroom? It will make a difference if we can't be certain which type of room we will have.

Yes, you can request a dedicated 2BR. In most cases, if booking at 11 months, that request will be met.

Enjoy! :)

We stayed in a dedicated 2BR at SSR this past October. It was great having the 2 queen beds in the 2nd bedroom. We were told that booking a 2BR vs. a lock-off is virtually guaranteed but location (Grandstand, Congress Park, etc) is only a request but they will try to honor it if possible.

As the previous posters have indicted. dedicated vs lock-off two bedrooms are a booking category, like Boardwalk View vs Standard at BWV. The reason for this is inventory control.

A dedicated takes a single, two bedroom unit out of inventory. A lock-off has to remove a one bedroom and a studio from inventory, and be sure they are connecting. It would be a very rare occasion NOT to have the booking category you reserved available upon check-in.

I get dedicated 2 bedrooms all the time. Like them so much more over the lock off's. Just make sure when you make your ressies that MS has given you the correct room (dedicated vs lock off). That's happened to me and fortunatley, I caught it. Also, look at the DVC member website and make sure that also says a dedicated 2 bedroom

I'm wondering how large your group is.

We had a room reserved at the SSR GV but decided to get two 2bd instead since the extra bedroom would be better, but--- since we have a group of 10 maybe 12 now we don't have the large dinning room table to gather around for dinner. They will have to bring plates and glasses over to our unit too since there are only settings for 8.

I do like the idea of two different units though because now we can spread out.

We will be a party of 8. Two couples(the parents) and 4 college age "kids". I thought this way the kids would have their own living room to hang out in. We don't really eat in the room much anyway so a big table isn't an issue. I hope they can give us two rooms next to each other though.
