This is tooo funny, My friend told me that when she travels she takes an old toothbrush that she is NOT going to use and an almost gone tube of toothpaste, also not using and leaves them out on the counter. She has her REAL set and hides it in her clothing or suitcase and has been known to put it in the safe!!!!! :rotfl: I could barely catch my breath as she told me this and she said she'll be the one laughing when they use mine to clean the toilet or the sink!!!! It must be true she says, " I saw it on 20/20 in a hidden camera in a theme park hotel"!! I still have the giggles....but now I am thinking hmmmm, will I hide mine next time or not!! :confused3

:rotfl: :rotfl: I'm sure the cm's are too busy looking through our stashes of snacks to clean th room with our toothbrush. Why hide the toothpaste-What do they do with that?

Wow, that's pretty paranoid. I was a flight attendant and probably stayed in hotels 1000 times, and nothing bad ever happened with my toothbrush. And even if it did, I never got sick, so...

Uhhh, the word therapy comes to mind.

lol Yes, she's pretty paranoid, but now you've got me thinking!! I wonder if dh would think I went nuts if I did this too!? lol :rotfl2:

The only word I have to say is Wow!! That is taking germaphobia to a whole new level!!!!

Paranoid no doubt!! But, here's my question (I over analyze things). Why bother with the decoy? Why not just put your toothbrush in the safe and be done with it. I wouldn't want one that they used to clean the toilet left out on the counter even if I wasn't going to put it in my mouth. Inquiring minds want to know...

I know! The decoy is to fool the cleaning person so that he/she would not try to crack the safe for the "real" toothbrush. :rotfl2:
If they're cleaning the toilet w/my toothbrush, I'd just have to say f--- it, I'll take my chances. God knows what they do with peoples undies too! :p

You are Right!!! It is to fool the houskeepers so they don't look for the real one!! I need to watch that 20/20 show, I think she may have lost it  Though one time we forgot someting and had to run back to our room, and when we got there a lady was on our bed watching tv and eating her breakfast...

just another thing too make u say hmmmmmmm... is this all y the cleaning lady never comes too your room when your in the room :scratchin

All I can say is great answers everyone.

ETA: This is why I always tip housekeeping! :thumbsup2

:rotfl: Its totally paranoid, but I'm so hiding my toothbrush next time.

PLEASE don't tell my husband about this post...He's totally paranoid already. Locks and doublelocks everything and then checks it again. If he thinks the maid is using his toothbrush for anything he'll never leave the room! :ssst:

My dad was staying in a hotel while attending a seminar once and he suspected the maid was going through the dresser drawers where he kept his socks and underwear. One morning he set up a little ****y trap with toothpicks so he could tell if anyone opened the drawer while he was gone. Not only did the maid open the drawer and disturb the toothpicks, she took them! He thought she probably freaked out when realized she'd been caught. Of course, my dad enjoyed this kind of stuff because he was a police officer. He set his trap again the next day and it was not disturbed again!

Thats hilarious, really makes me wonder what house/mousekeeping is doing!

Anybody ever set up a NannyCam? :lmao:

That is one of the funniest things I think I ever heard. Talk about paranoid. But when it comes down to it, the mouth is probably nastier and more bacterial ridden than the bathroom.

This is why we like not having daily Mousekeeping in the DVC resorts. Just one less thing to worry about. Not that I have ever been overly paranoid of someone going through my stuff, I would think they already have too much to do. Kinda makes you think though.

They wear them of course. :teeth: They put them on and dance around the room looking for any dirty pics left out (or perhaps taking a few) all the while preparing to clean the toilet with any and all toothbrushes they may find not locked in a safe. ;)
