Decorating your TT, DIY ideas and suggestions?
I have looked at some of the decorations you all have posted and they are WONDERFUL!! I love the Mickey lamp post idea and am hoping to get DH to make us one before our trip. I am trying to rack my brain for ideas for other decorations that my kidlets can have a hand in making. Do any of you have any ideas or suggestions? I thought about cutting out a Mickey head from MDF and painting it black and making small holes around the perimeter to house small white lights. I'm not sure how it will look or how exactly I'll go about doing it but I'm hopeful that its do- able I also wanted to buy some awning lights but I can't find ANY Disney ones anywhere, any suggestions on where to find some or make your own covers?

I better get up to par here. We will down for Christmas and I feel left out if we are not decorated. Last year at AKL we had decorations in our room but think it will be more fun to decorate outside. If I would have been smart I would have watched the sales after the holidays this past December!

If I did this correctly (highly unlikely) The above thread gives some information on Mickey Mouse lights. You can't buy them--you have to make them. RVUSA has the lights and he did share his secrets on how he made them. I'm going to try, but I don't think I'll have enough time before our next vacation. As far as other decorations, I found a Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse spinner to put outside. I found them at a kite store. I also found little Mickey and Minnie camp chairs for my grandkids. Even if they don't sit in them they'll look cute at our campsite. Have fun decorating!

You can buy Mickey awning lights at the campground. Or call WDW Merchandising at 407-363-6200.

I called them last year and ordered Halloween awning lights - shaped like a Mickey head and orange in color. I think a string of 10 was $15. They were delivered to me at home in about a week.

I've also seen them in patriotic stars/stripes, Easter/spring colors, red/white like a peppermint swirl at Christmas, and such at the campground trading posts.

You could call the # above and see what designs they currently have in stock. I think they're listed under either awning or patio lights.

I think I've also seen the red/white/blue ones at the American Pavillion in Epcot and the America store across from Liberty Tree Tavern at MK.

We have July 4th Mickey lights. I can't decide if we'll buy Mickey Christmas lights. I have an issue with tradition. I wasn't raised in a family that had traditions so if we do anything twice, it becomes...well...a tradition. We have another set of lights we usually use.

Our Disney stuff for the RV include:

Mickey Lamppost
Satellite dish painted with a Mickey head
Mickey Dish towels and pot holders
Mickey Salt and Pepper set - etched green glass shakers
Mickey kitchen utensils
Fort Wilderness blanket/throw
Homemade disney ornaments - just a few
Disney pillowcases
Little Mickey Pillows for the truck.

When you start listing Disney things, it begins to look a little weird. What I think is Disney tasteful may be overload to others. Surely not.

As I said in another post, we're going in Oct and I it just clicked in my little brain today that I have Mickey Icon Christmas tree lights in red, blue, green and yellow that I bought during my last trip to Downtown Disney in the Christmas Shop that I can use for awning lights.

I do wonder if they are the same size. I sort of wish mine were a little bigger but I paid $15 too so I think they may be the same thing with possibly different packaging. Anyway, I think they will look great. And, I printed the instructions from RvUSA (John) for the lamp post today and DH is going to make that too.

Can't Wait till October!

I LOVE it!!! I saw a few things at the Disney Store last week on sale like dishes, kettle, coasters etc... I was going to buy some stuff but I thought I was just getting carried away...heehee! Now I know I am not the only one who loves everything Disney!!! I am not going to get any dishes, but sheets, kettle, and pillows, I am really considering!! I think I'll start by doing some outside decorations and buy some awning lights when we are there.
So far I have some Mickey mugs, Mickey egg poachers, blankets, stuffed characters, and a few other things. Thanks you so much for sharing!!!
