Decorating your resort room?

I am totally going to home depot and getting green mickeys to decorate our door in Sept. It is my first trip to Disney and it is an all girls trip! We are staying at the POR. I will have to keep my eyes out for the green mickeys and leave lots of messages!

I just got back last week from POFQ(rm1104) for my 40th--just me and the DD12 and DS6. While they were sleeping, I decorated the window with a HB banner with stars that had 40 written on them. I also hung a banner on the bathroom mirror as well asn other "40" centerpieces etc. DS was thrilled-- he said I Bet Tink did this!!! It was so worth telling the world I was 40 to see their expressions. DD was sort of freaked out that someone came in the room while she was sleeping-- still didnt fgure out it was me!! It was the farthest room, so I dont think I had a lot of passers by, but it was still way fun! I will post pics soon!

Great decorating ideas, everyone!! I would've never thought to do something like that to make my family's stay more spectactular!! My five (going to be six when we visit WDW) year old sister would just LOVE something like that if we did it over night while she was sleeping. I've GOTTA get my mom to take me to HD, now (I'm a teenager who can't drive, not a 40 year old living with my mother!!). Poor kids in Waxahachie TX, they won't have any mickey heads...hehehe. Anywho, thanks for all of the great ideas. Keep it up!

Any suggestions for a family trip in August? I like the idea of using the Mickey head paint samples on the door (which DH and I swiped so many of when we used them for our seating cards at our DLR wedding! Which I think they started catching onto us and our 5 color paint scheme :rotfl2: ). I don't think DH would be too inot the use of lights so I'm not quite sure what to do :confused3 Any thoughts?

I think that I can convince him to go all out for our X-mas trip though.

:wave2: hi everyone! love the pics of the window!!!!

went to the Chicago DIS meet this past weeekend and i got to haunt some new HOme Depots!!! i came home with 30 more heads!! :woohoo:

Great new ideas!!!

I have tried this one this weekend at our hotel and it works!!!

okay materials needed:
scissors
light box like the disney store mug boxes or smaller!!
wrapping paper
bows
tape
magnet roll (it's a mgnet with stickeyness on one side!! if you need a bit of this and don't want to purchase the whole roll just let me know!! i can mail you some!)

alright this is great for Birthdays or holidays at the world we're doing it for Christmas next year!!!

keep the boxes flat for easy transport to the WORLD! and then put together in the room and tape shut and wrap!! on the back of the package pr the bottom however way you want the bow to face out put a magnet strip on it and voila you have faux packages to stick on your door!!!!! :teeth:

For a birthday

we are doing this next year when we go for Christmas time as it will aslo be DSs birthday!!! we are going to put out a LARGE (they sell them at card shoppes) birthday card on the door with tape or magnet strip not sure which!! and attach a pen to our door so that everyone can sign DSs birthday card!!! what a fun memory of a birthday in the WORLD!

I think we're going next November...Think Christmas decorations would be appropriate around Thanksgiving time?

DEFINATELY! or you could get the paper turkeys they have at stores and do those lame turkey hands that we all learn to do in pre school and put everyone DIS name on those!!

Gust got back from HD, I took 4 of each color (and a lot of alien green ones)
:rolleyes1
I peeled off the backing and punched one hole in each ear, then I strung them to make my own Mickey garland to hang up in our room at Disney.
I can't wait to hang it up. :)

Yay for pretty decorations!! :cheer2: Christmas decorations will be my thing...and maybe, just maybe, a disney-fied pumpkin for the Thanksgiving spirt...

Thanks for the wonderful ideas, everyone.

another go with everything window decoration is a Mr. Potato head to put in the window ledge!! we do this and this year a PONY will be joining the ranks!

a quick hi and bye.......

:moped:

i still read the thread, just haven't posted in awhile.

Can't wait for the Halloween/Christmas decorations to go on sale after those two holidays have passed. :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

wow, I read this forum in the beginning having no idea what to do, and I read and read and took notes, I loved the visual aid FigmentGuy! I think the little poster idea was great, but instead of Figment, all the Disney Elephants!!! Dumbo, Hufflelumps, Colonel Hathi and his army and family, all of them! (lol, I really love elephants, because, well long story short, a stuffed elephant was the last thing my grandpa gave me when he passed when I was about 8....so yea, I love elephants..)

But yea, kinda went off topic.

I am trying to get a ride to HD Walmart, Walgreens, Michaels, etc etc. I bet my parents will give me my licence now :rotfl:

but yea, thanks everyone! I love the ideas, and I am getting better visual aides....

:woohoo: beware all you newbie to window decoration decorators out there!!! once you decorate your first window you will want to keep out doing it every year!!! i have BLUE PRINTS this year!! i'm a DORK!
