We went during Dec. last year but due to school schedules, we are going to the Fort the week of Thanksgiving. As a general "rule", when does everyone begin decorating their sites for Christmas? :santa:

The week of Thanksgiving is definitely fair game for putting up the Christmas lights! It is a most magical time to go!

You are so TRUELY cut out to be the FairyGodMother!!!pixiedust:

I am, aren't I?! :goodvibes :wizard:

I'm not wishing my life away or anything. But I am looking forward to that day! Now, I'm too old to be a princess; too young to be the Fairy Godmother. Ahhhh, patience IS a virtue!:rotfl:

We were at the Fort this past Thanksgiving. We arrived on the Sunday before, and nearly everyone was already decorated. We put our lights up right away. It is truly magical that time of year. We were so pumped up by it, we ran out to Home Depot and Walmart the week after Christmas to snap up some bargains on some REALLY tacky Christmas stuff to bring to the Fort this year. Inflatable stuff and more lights mainly. You really can't overdo it!

Hi,

Okay I am jealous, I have been trying to get a cancellation for that week and so far all I have is that Sat./Sun night after Thanksgiving. Oh well, I'll keep trying.
Meanwhile, in answer to your post I always started decorating the day before thanksgiving (just because that's when we usually got there) and I left my stuff up until the day I left. I wasn't the only one and the parks and resorts by Thanksgiving day are as decked out as they are gonna get anyway. So decorate away.... :) If I can extend my stay we'll be able to decorate together! LOL!

We always bring our Thanksgiving Turkey(blow up) with us, but I think this year we are going to bring our Mickey Minnie Christmas blow up too!!

Thanks for all your help. We always go to the fort between May and August but last year the kids wanted to go in Dec. We so enjoyed all the decorations and decorating, that we wanted to do it again this year. Yes, we even hit Walmart after Christmas to stock up. Can't wait!!!
