Decorating: Inspire me!

Our bedroom needs decorating but I really don't know what to do with it.
We need new build in wardrobes and new wallpaper or painting and curtains.
The only thing that we don't want to change is the floor, which is dark wood and a mirror which is pine (I know that doesn't match, but the mirror was a gift and I want to keep in the bedroom). The window still is also dark wood and the windows are a fake dark wood (don't like it but I'm not going to change the windows!).

We've had a look in Ikea for build in wardrobes an the only colours they have are white, birch, oak and antique stain.

So what can I do with this room, all suggestions for colours are welcome (except blue)?

I think I'd go for white washed wood for the wardrobes/drawers etc, just because if you put a dark or pine wood it'll emphasise the other differences too much.
I always have cream bedding, and add colour with pillows/cushions throws. Currently all my accesories are purple shades but I'm changing to reds after I redecorate this year.
I think I'd go for a rug too in a colour to co ordinate with the throw/cushions

we have the ikea Tall pax waldrobes with all the nifty little drawers etc, and i couldnt reccomend them enough, they are great and you can custom choose the inside, my room has never been so tidy, you could always make a curtian for front if you dont like colours of doors, i thought they did glass and mirror also?

You're right, they do come in mirror or glass, but the frame is still those other colours. Glad to know you like th Ikea system and that you recommend it! It's a lot cheaper than all the other places we looked at!
