DH and I have been to WDW twice during December and I noticed that people decorated their windows and some decorated their doors. We are going to DLR this December which will be our first time in December and only my second time ever to DLR. My question is this.............
Does anyone decorate their doors at the disney hotels?? We will be staying at the DLH but I don't suppose it would make any difference in decorating windows since it would be hard for people to see up so high???

Thank you for your thoughts/ideas

I know it seem to be a big thing with people at WDW but I have never heard of anyone doing that here at DLR. :confused3 Maybe because the stay is shorter- 3 days compared to 7 to 10 days. Maybe other people have done here, but it isn't as popular as WDW. In fact, I was completely blown away when I discovered huge threads about it over there. I never would have thought to do that.

It never crossed my mind either. I thought some of the ideas were really cute but even though we went again the following year, I still didn't decorate. Just didn't want to pack any more stuff than absolutely necessary. So, I thought I would ask about DLR since I haven't been in sooooo long.

Yeah, I wouldn't feel like packing all that extra stuff either. If we were going to be there over Christmas, then maybe a little fake tree for the room or something.

I just don't get the whole decorating your hotel room thing?
I am with you PinkBudgie; about packing all that extra stuff and can see a small tree, that would be cute :) but I sure wouldn't want to pack the stuff, put it up, then take it down Yikes!
IMO if you want decorations just step out of the room, my goodness it's Disneyland! Lol :) I don't know why anyone would bother with the stuff.

Come on...where's your Disney spirit? :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I have been to WDW twice and have not seen any decorations in the two different hotels we stayed at. I think people do it more on the Disney cruise than anywhere else. Usually, older kids are allowed in/out priveleges from the playroom and parents want them to find their room easily. That's possibly why those are decorated more so than the hotel rooms on site.

Well, I don't know what resorts at WDW tend to do or don't do it. But there was a thread over there about a year ago about all the things people bring to decorate the door and window and room. And then a big debate followed about leaving a mess for maid to clean up and what kind of items should be used or not used. They weren't just talking doors, but full blown room makeovers. :rotfl: I read that thread with my jaw on the floor. Some even posted pictures.

I can see on a cruise making it easier to find the right door. But on any door I wouldn't want to put anything with our names on it for safety reasons.

DL is different from WDW in this regard (among others). Neither the windows or doors are decorated and I believe it's for 2 main reasons. At WDW the moderate and all star resorts are more like motels - meaning you enter your room from the outside, whereas, at DL all of the DL hotels are hotels that you enter from a main lobby and then walk down a windowless hallway to your room! So no one would see all your creative decorations.:sad2:

And the doors don't seem to be decorated as I haven't found any of them to allow magnets to stick to them! We stayed last Dec. at PP and they didn't stick (we only took a birthday magnet), so that's probably the reason for the lack of door decorations.

We did however make special door hangers to celebrate my DDs birthdays! The maids would leave cute comments about them everyday and thankfully they were never stolen!

But good luck with whatever you decide!!!

I have taken Happy Birthday banners and hung them from the balcony....and also a Happy Birthday door decoration. We taped it to the door with the special #m blue painters tape - can leave on for up to 2 weeks and will not stick. As long as you cut a hole for the peep hole....they are fine with it.

Next DL trip is just after thanksgiving and we are taking lights for the balcony (DVC villa) and will wrap our two doors with gift wrap like a holiday gift. We will have a small tree I am making for the room.....maybe even a few snowflakes on the balcony overhead (from the dollar store).
