I'm trying to figure out what color to paint our bathroom.

The floor is an orange marble, it's really beautiful. The toilet is white, the tub is white, the vanity is a dark wood (not cherry) with a warm white marble top (not the white/gray marble, more like an off white w/ a little brown.

Anyway, what color would you paint the walls? I was thinking either an off white (ercu or even a few shades darker) or a burnt orange shade...something a shade or two lighter than the floor. Open to suggestions.

Oh, and heres another question while we're at it...the walls in there now are white, but they are textured...I don't mind the textured appearance, but can I just paint over it, or do I have to scrape it off first or something?? Thanks.

With the orange tone I'm thinking a sage green, or someting in yellow. If the walls are texured, is it wallpaper? I'm only asking because I have a painted texured wallpaper in my half bathroom. If so paint over it if it's in good condition.

My Mom has textured ceilings and they paint well. Just ask at the paint store for the special roller. It holds the paint better. For paint color how about antique white? Porter paint has a nice choice.:)

This was my very first thought... By making the wall color a contrasting tone, it will really emphasize the beautiful warm tones of the orange marble and dark wood and make them pop as opposed to blending in if you were to do the walls in too similar of a color. I think it would be beautiful! I love sage green and amber tones together!

As for the textured walls, as long as it's in good condition (no peeling, cracking, etc.) I think it would be fine to paint over it. I would however, wash/rinse the entire surface before painting to get off old grime and residue; it will help the new paint adhere much better.

yep I was thinking green too. Not sure I would like any shade of white on the walls. But I would want to play up the color from the floor.

I have an offwhite in my living room that I love...Behr's Parchment Paper is the color. I like the idea of offwhite, or like you said, a few shades darker.

I wouldn't wash the textured walls...I think that might loosen it. Our textured LR celing was covered in soot above the fireplace and I used a very good primer over it (I asked at Home Depot), and then painted over it. It's been over a year, and looks fine.

Have fun! Now that I went through the house and did all the rooms, I'm itchin' to start over!
