Deck Plan Trivia

On the Disney-published deck plans, there are arrows that show you which staterooms have connecting doors. But there seems to be something else going on as well. Some of the walls separating staterooms are drawn as straight lines, other walls are drawn with small notches. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, look carefully at the deck plans.)

What, if anything, do these notches represent?

I wondered about that as well, and when we were on our last cruise we were in one of the rooms that had the small notches.
Our stateroom had a little alcove where that notch would have been on the diagram. The trunk was in it.
I thought our stateroom was a connecting stateroom untill I got there! (I guess i didn't pay enough attention to the key as to what meant what!)
