We have booked our first DCL cruise on the Dream!! (and not in summer 2017--those prices are crazy!). We've chosen a verandah room on deck 9, but DCL just informed me that there is some availability still on deck 8. My guess is that there isn't a difference between the two decks, but I wanted to check in with the experts. We are staying in 9618, if anyone has any pictures or reviews. Also, any other Disney Dream advice? The cruise isn't until next year, but I'm a planner :)

Yay!!!! I am a planner too, I just booked a July 2017 cruise. We sailed on the Disney Dream, back in December. We were in room 8188, and absolutely loved it. The Verandah is huge, it had two chairs, two lounge chairs and a table. I can't imagine there is much difference, but we really liked where we were. You'll love either one!!!

If not attending the Pirate party, you will be in a great location to view the fireworks from your own veranda. Decks 3, 4 & 11 are where the majority of activity occurs for us. Have a GREAT cruise!:sail:

That's awesome! I'm not sure if the kiddos will stay up late enough for the fireworks, so nice to know we will have another option for viewing.

we were on deck 9 forward for our December B2B. Loved the location and will try to book the same stateroom again.

the laundry room was around the corner. two flights up (usually took stairs) and we were on deck 11 - the spa was right there and it was a short walk to the drink station. going to dining or lower decks was easy and we used the stairs most of the time.

Here are some links. I can't attest to the accuracy of the bunk bed info on Disney Cruise Blog though. The first one is for Fantasy, but I suspect it would be very similar, at least view-wise.

Thanks! I did look through these before, and I also suspected that they were similar to the Fantasy. I just wasn't sure if someone else had stayed in this room on the Dream who could confirm whether they were indeed the same or not.

I know how it is. I booked a room on Fantasy on deck 8. When I went to look at the reviews (forgot to do it before-hand), the view was partially obstructed to one side, even though it was charged as a full verandah. I found something on deck 9, but some reviews said it didn't have a pull-down bed and Disney Cruise Blog said it did but without true reviews. We don't need the pull-down bed, it's just 3 of us. However, I know DS would prefer it over the couch. Frustrating:(

And we definitely need the 5th bed! I read a review on another site, but it would be great if someone could weigh in on here! Stinks that you can't find one place to get consistent and accurate information.

I was looking at RCCL, and it specifically said if the room you picked had a sofa bed or what. It was nice. I didn't even know that some of DCL's rooms on Dream or Fantasy didn't have a pull-down bed:confused3 I thought they all did and just happened across the info.

In my search for the "perfect" room my TA told me that since we are a family of 5 the online system would only show rooms with the bunk bed and murphy bed. hope this helps

If there are 5 of you booked, rooms that sleep less than that will not show up as being available.

are these sites accurate, as my travel agent told me my room has a murphy bed and could easily sleep five, however this site said it only slept four

Thanks! I feel comfortable that the room has a Murphy bed, since we are a family of 5 and I confirmed that it did with the cruise line. Now, I'm just looking more for info about the view, location on the deck, etc.

I don't think you can always count on it 100%. If you are concerned, you can always call DCL and confirm with them or ask your TA to do so since you found some conflicting information and just want to be sure. Good luck!

We stayed on deck 9 midship last year on the Dream, we have also stayed on deck 5 and 6. The person that booked our cruise for deck 9 thought we would love it. Honestly, I prefer deck 6. I can't say anything about deck 8 (since we have never stayed on deck 8), but on deck 9, I could feel the boat rocking unlike on deck 5 or 6. The water was calm too, no storms. I have always heard the higher you stay the more you feel the boat, and I have to say for us this was true. As far as the rooms go, I could not tell any difference. The other thing with staying on deck 9 and I am sure it is probably the same on deck 8, when we out on the veranda or just had the sliding door open, it was really noisy. You could hear kids running and screaming. I am not saying it was the worst experience of any of our Disney Cruises, but when I booked this years, I wanted to be on deck 6. One positive thing about being on deck 9 is, you only have to walk up or down two floors to get to deck 11 when the elevators were to busy to wait on. We did love this! But on the flip side staying on a lower deck, when the elevators were full and wanting to go to the dining rooms, gift shops, etc... there were less steps staying on a lower deck. I am sure you will love what ever deck you chose. Have Fun!!

Glad to hear you liked deck 6. We are first timers and were assigned to deck 6. Nice that it's quieter and less rocking. Lovin this board! Learning so much.

We will be on the Fantasy on deck 9 midship. Originally had booked deck 10, but switched after reading negative reviews about the overhang on deck 10 verandahs.

Anyway, there was a price difference between deck 8, and 9&10- these being the same price.

Is this normal?
