Deck 6/Deck 7 Difference?

My travel agent just called and said I could get an upgrade from level 6/deck 6, cabin #6108 to level 5/deck 7 cabin #7058. Having absolutely no knowledge about decks, cabins or levels....is this something I should do or should I stay put? She told me that my original cabin is a bit towards the rear of the ship. The upgrade would be midship and a level higher. Any suggestions? We have two pre-teen kids if that makes any difference. Thanks for any and all help and suggestions!!!!!

I can tell you the midship room would cost a bit more..and be much more convenient to everything.

Either way..either deck is great and you will have a wonderful time!

Rooms are identical between Cat 5 and Cat 6.

As already stated, Cat 5 is one deck higher, but otherwise the only other difference I've ever noticed is that there are fewer Inside Cabins (therefore fewwer guest) on Deck 7.

If the upgrade is a freebie, go ahead and take it. If it's going to cost you anything, tell the TA "No Thanks".

and be much more convenient to everything
FWIW: Since you are near the aft elevators/stairs, you are already conveniently located to most of the resturants. Midship would place you closer to kids labs, but you'd also be one deck higher from the labs. Being on Deck 7 makes Deck 9 (pools, scoops, etc) a little more accessable (it's just two flights of stairs up), but it also means that everything on Deck 3 is 4 decks below (not bad going down, but a pretty good hike going up). I reference this information because I personally detest waiting on elevators unless absolutly neccessary (for example, I'll walk Deck 3 to 7 rather than wait on elevators, but I'll wait for an elevator going from Deck 1 to 7 when getting back on board from ports of call).

So again, I say that if the "upgrade" is going to cost you, I wouldn't bother. If it's a freebie, it's pretty much a toss-up.

Hi,

We have cruised twice, once on deck 7 (7556 ) and once deck 6
(65?? mid ship, forget the exact room but it was near the elevators) We found no difference between the deck as far as rooms but there is definately more housecleaning activity on deck 6 because there are more rooms. This is not a bad thing just the only differnce I could think of... Both 6 and 7 have laundry rooms. I liked being mid ship but that's me...

If it is not costing anything then I would go for the upgrade because it's midship, not because it's deck 7... If the upgrade is extra I would save the money and buy extra drinks!

Hope this helps

We were in 7070 for the 6/19 Western Magic. Loved the room. It was easy to get around (up to 9, down to 3 or 4). We were between the mid and aft elevators, closer to mid.

As others have said, if you're paying for it, it's probably not worth it, but otherwise, go for it.

....you gave us some good advice. Since reading your replies, I managed to do some research on the two levels and the various categories. Since there isn't an increase in cost, we will move up one deck and one category. Thanks again for your help!!
