Deck 2 cabins on the Magic

Did you know there is a wall seperating the elevators from the rooms? You aren't RIGHT beside the elevator

OK, well, that's good to know. Wasn't sure if the door to 2116 opened right into the hallway where I'd find people standing for the elevator! Have stayed in hotels where this has been the case. 2116 is still a contender, lol.

When we stayed in 2118, my parents were in 2116 and didn't complain about any noise. Sure you hear & feel the thrusters during docking but we have also felt it in the dining rooms and all over the ship. It never bothered me but maybe that's what people refer to as noisy?

Thrusters are ok with me. Furniture being moved or constant noise from people walking or running above is what I'm looking to avoid so I think we'll be alright. It's looking like 2116 may be the winner.

The Promenade hallway is above those rooms though I guess the lounge probably starts near where your door would be? I don't know. I've also been in 2618 which was described as noisy from being below the kitchen and we heard the clank of pots once or twice but nothing that would make me think for a second it was causing me to have a bad cruise. :goodvibes

Are you sure you are not me? Or perhaps I am you?

My folks stayed in 2116 while we were in 2118 ....

Yes, here is a picture of an elevator lobby on the Dream. I don't have any from the Magic but it's basically same set up. Elevators to your right, stairs to left & in back you can see they have the cabin hallway roped off until cabins are ready, usually around 1:30 pm. If you look beyond the rope, across that hallway, you can see a tiny bit of one of the cabin doors propped open by a CM for cleaning. Light from the verandah window shining in which you normally don't see mid cruise from elevator lobby.

:lmao: That's so funny! What are the odds? :wizard:

Thanks for the pic! It's good to see that there is a buffer between the rooms and the elevator lobby. People waiting for elevators would not be congregating near the cabin door, which is a good thing. I guess 2116 wouldn't be a bad chouce at all then. If my main concern is the possibility of noise above us, I am also probably better off with 2116 rather than 2114, no? 2114 brings me one cabin closer to the Internet Cafe above (or the hallway as everyone has been saying). I really need to make up my mind soon!

I've been in 2118 on the Magic & the Wonder and we love that it's right at the elevator lobby. We can tell immediately by our door magnets if we've made a wrong turn out of the elevator or off the stairs.

We also just stayed in 2108 in Oct and didn't have any noise. Our 1st cruise was in 2106, also great room and a tad closer to the laundry area if that matters to you.

Just booked 2118 again for 2012 out of NY. :cool1:

I have just booked this room (2118) for the Med 2013. Could you let me know what condition it is in when you get back.:)

Do you do trip reports?

Sorry, we switched our sailing from NY to an Alaskan cruise. Dh has seen all of Nassau he wants to see and we still have another cruise there on the Dream very soon.

That's okay, so long as you have a fabulous time cruising.:)

It will be my first ever cruise on the Magic next year, so I guess I was just extra excited to hear someone would be in room 2118. lol
