Hey all,

I am looking at maybe booking a last minute repositioning cruise from Van to LA this September... there's some reasonable prices and one option for ocean view rooms are on Deck 1... has anybody had a room down there and how did you find it?

What's in the aft part of the vessel since the deck plans only show detailed info for the front half of the vessel.

Sorry I can't see where to edit the poll... the second question should state 1 NOT on. :)

Crew quarters are in the aft of deck 1.

I have stayed on Deck 2 in an ocean view and would not again, I think the only difference is deck 2 has one larger port hole, deck 1 has 2 smaller ones. I just HATE HATE HATE the split bath, and the room layout. Give me an 11B sideways. please. No view needed.

I would not stay on deck 1 myself, but I put my adult kids there! After all, I'm paying and they're getting a "free" Disney cruise to Alaska. :teeth:

We had 2 connecting rooms on Deck one midship and loved having all the space for the 4 of us. We did the 10 night Med that was very port intensive so a quick walk on and off the ship as the gangway was on Deck one for the ports. Also liked getting into an emptly elevator each time to go up! :thumbsup2 Midship esp that low is the most stable area of the ship, or so I've been told. We booked again for another cruise on deck one! :goodvibes

WE have stayed on Deck 1 and had no problem....I prefer Deck 2 but if all that was available was on Deck 1 I would stay there in a heartbeat!!!

Stayed on Deck 1 for our first cruise and would stay there again if the price was right. :thumbsup2

Very quite location overall. Looking out those two portholes you feel like you are right on the water. Super easy to disembark at Castaway Cay.

Downsides - about as far as you can get from the pools. There will be some noise early in the morning as the ship docks, but it is very brief.

For our next two cruises we have a large porthole and a verandah booked. We shall see if the new room types make us room snobs who will refuse to venture into the belly of the beast again.

Honestly though - if you can get a good rate - jump on it. You'll have no regrets.

I just HATE HATE HATE the split bath

Blasphemy!

We just LOVE LOVE LOVE the split bath.

We love deck one! Its super quiet, no pesky kids running around at all hours! I too love the split bath! Plus the other rooms around you are often used by crew, ahhhh I'm already dreaming....... :thumbsup2

The first time we ever cruised with Disney we stayed in Cabin #1030 (forward) on the Wonder.

Had 2 small portholes and a single bathroom but we found the room to be very convenient. The only noise I recall hearing was when they docked and let the gangway down. Otherwise very quiet.

Yes, it was super quiet on deck one. We've also stayed on deck 8 on the Magic and that was fairly quiet too. Deck 2 seemed to be our noisiest deck we stayed on due to all the traffic. I'm with you! I love the split bath, and having 2 connecting rooms and double the closet, bathrooms and TV's was worth giving up the veranda for me! :goodvibes

The Guest staterooms on Deck 1, Port side forward to midships.

mickeyfan1: Crew quarters are in the aft of deck 1.
I really hope you do not mind me correcting you!

But Aft of the Guest staterooms on the Port Side deck 1 are Photog labs and the Print Shop where the daily Navigator is produced along with a few other offices, to the Aft shell doors.

The Starboard side of the ship forward has bridge Officer rank cabins and then Garbage room/recycling facilities and incinerator room. (It's so smelly and hot in there!)

And Aft of both Port and Starboard side is the handling dock where all the food, drink, supplies, your luggage are brought aboard.
The refrigerated goods are lowered down on lift's to Deck A and into fridges or freezers.
Deck 1 Aft is also used to store goods, ground glass chips and squashed soda cans etc before debarking them. When it is full they use the Starboard side of the I95.
Past that is the true Aft of the ship from the "I95" which run's from Forward to Aft Starboard side deck 1,
On the Port side Aft is the general crew mess. (crew restaurant) Any Guest who says they feel the props vibrate hasn't eaten in the crew mess! lol! :lmao:

The Starboard side has the Officer Mess, Officer Bar, and Crew Bar.

Just wanna say, you don't want to eat in the crew mess or stay anywhere on Deck 1 apart from Portside Forward!
Very quiet footfall, good to port's, (apart from tendering when the anchor is dropped), probably not good for B2B's as luggage is taken off Deck 1 Starboard Aft And Forward.

(This is based on the Magic only as the Wonder does have some differences compared to the Wonder)

We were in 1030 on the Magic on our first (and only) DCL cruise 2 yrs ago. We had a GTY12 and were upgraded to the 9. We had 2 small portholes which was nice to see outside when we originally booked for an inside room. Location was very convenient for getting on and off ship for port days. Elevator was convenient cause of the medical center nearby. It was quiet on that level. The only thing DS15 just added is that sometimes it felt like a mile to get somewhere.

We were in 1036 on the Wonder and would stay there again.

So quiet. Seemed like we were the only ones down there. We had no issues.

Good luck with your decision.

I haven't stayed on Deck 1, but have stayed on Deck 2 which is really not that far off. We loved it on Deck 2, it was quiet and convenient. I'd definitely try Deck 1, and use the money I saved on souvenirs or excursions :thumbsup2
