Hello all....we are sailing on the December 4th sailing of the Magic....received our stateroom assignment today and it is on deck 1....we have never stayed lower than deck 5....can anyone tell me what it is like down on deck 1? How is it with motion lower in the ship? How noisy is it? Any info would be most appreciated.

Tom

Decks 1 and 2 are great...don't let anyone tell you otherwise...they always get a bad rap from people who have not stayed down there....I always hear....ohhhh so you are staying underwater??? Ohhhh you are in the basement.....ohhhh you are staying with the crew.....

You get the idea and all are false (except the last statement has some truth as some of the CM's stay on Deck 1 and there are crew doors that the Cm's come and go from).

We love Deck 1...very quiet, no motion....aft you may hear/feel engine vibrations. We were mid ship and loved the location. Very easy to get to the atrium and restaurants. The only thing that it is not close to is the pool deck, but it was no big deal to get the elevator.

The best part is when you come back from a shore excursion and all you want to do is crash on your bed....all you have to do is walk down the hall and you are "home"...no waiting for elevators!!!

Have stayed on Deck 1 twice (remember one room # was 1030 - the last room down the hallway) and enjoyed it both times. Not many rooms there so it was quiet. Only noise we heard in Room 1030 was when they took up the walkway before leaving shore.

Don't worry about it and just have a wonderful time ::yes:: :wave2:

We leave in less than 2 weeks for the 4 night Wonder cruise. (YEAH!!!!!!!!!! ) I am excited about being on the first deck (room 1034) because we are wanting this to be a RELAXING vacation. From what I have read on the boards, we are on the perfect deck for relaxing since deck 1 has very little traffic.
My question is about the drink station. How convenient will it be to "run" to the drink station when we want a drink? Will it be a hassle? Will I be better off paying for a soft drink at a closer snacking area rather than make the walk? This may actually be a stupid question, but it is our first Disney Cruise. I don't understand the distance. I just know that my children will want the soft drink or juice with their snacks and when they are hot, tired, etc. I don't know how we will handle that.
Thanks for the feedback!

We stayed in 1048 and I echo what the previous posters have said. I would not hesitate to stay there again. We saw a fire drill in the elevator lobby one day which was really neat.

It isn't easy to get to the drink station. But we didn't find the need to go up there very often. We were only in the room to rest and change clothes. If we needed a drink, we were usually close enough wherever you are.

Have a great time.

Well you are staying on Deck 1 forward and the drink station is deck 9 aft - thats quite a distance. I would take the forward lifts up to deck 9 to get to the drink station then either take the stairs down or go back and take the forward elevators down.

There really isn't anyplace closer where you can buy drinks - the two places that come to mind are the snack bar outside the Walt Disney Theater (which is open on a limited basis) or the Promenade Lounge on deck 4.

Will going to the drink station be a hassel - probably - but not that big of one. You will want to consider bringing bottles you can fill and that have lids - and you can keep in your rooms cooler.
