We have been assigned a cabin on deck one. The deck plan shows mostly grey space there. Anyone know what goes on in that grey zone? Is it noisy?

We have also been assigned on deck 1 for our Oct 31 cruise. The rest is for the CM and is off limits to guests.

Yes, most of it is the living area for the crew of the ship.

The gray spaces represent crew areas: cabins, crew and officers mess, corridors, crew recreation areas, offices, etc.

The main drawback to deck 1 is that the corridor doesn't run the entire length of the ship so you'll have to go to higher decks to get to some areas of the ship. No access to the aft stairs that are a quick way to get to Parrot Cay and Animator's Palatte. The midship elevators are sometimes busier than the forward and aft ones.

Another advantage/disadvantage depending on your point of view is that deck one is where the tender lobbies are located. That's where everyone gets on and off the ship in the ports.

Thanks for the replies.
I am hoping someone can tell me if the crew areas are noisy at night as we have a baby. :earsgirl:

We stayed on deck 1 on our 7 night cruise last October.
The good thing is that the hallways were very quiet - no kids running around, also less movement. The bad thing was that whenever we docked it was very noisy. Especially the last night of the cruise - it sounded like they spent the whole night moving luggage or heavy items around.

Jandreas-
Thanks for the heads up! We booked this cruise only 7 weeks out with gty cat 10, so we got a pretty good deal. At least now I know what to expect! :wave2:

My family and I were on the 8/28/04 Magic. We had rooms 1065 and 1079. In room 1065 you heard an occasional buzzing/humming noise. In room 1079 there was also a humming. It never interferred with our sleep or use of the rooms, and we would stay on Deck 1 again. The medical facility is also on Deck 1. The hallways were very quite and it was great location to return to after being out all day on an excursion. It is also a short walk to Deck 2 for the laundry facilities.

Glad to see a fellow "lodge lover." We were there in August before our cruise. Can't wait to get back.

Enjoy your cruise!
