So excited to post this....hubby has given the go ahead to plan our next trip!! :) We're planning on this January. My dilemma...do we get 1 room at Caribbean Beach or 2 connecting rooms at Sports? We're getting to be a big family and I think getting the 2 rooms is a better idea. Advice?

While you can request it there would be no guarantee of connecting or even adjoining rooms at ASSp. If your two boys can share a queen bed or if each adult can share with one child then you would fit in a CBR room, it would be tight and not a lot of room to move with the packnplay for baby. Is it for a long time or just a few days?
I would do CBR, but CBR is our favorite resort. I know it's a lot more but the ideal room would be an AoA suite for your kids ages and space requirements - they would love it.

CRB looks super nice, but I know the size of a regular room and I'm thinking 2 would be better. When we stayed at Movies back in 2011, we had connecting rooms because we had my sister and brother with us. Back then we only had the 2 kids....it was nice having that extra space, especially now that the kids are bigger. We'll be going for a week. AoA is a little much and I know since hubby and I have stayed at Sports, the kids will love it. The fact that it's not guaranteed to get a connecting room worries me though.

I could be wrong (I have never booked two rooms), but I have read that Disney will guarantee connecting rooms if the room is for minor children. They won't make any guarantees in all other instances.

No, that is incorrect. Disney will NOT guarantee connecting rooms for any party because there is no way to block them. As long as there are 2 adults on the reservation, the expectation is that the adults can split up. WDW will do everything possible to grant the request, and most people do get the connecting rooms, but it's not a guarantee and you could end up in different floors or different buildings.

OP, have you looked at the family suites in ASMu? Those tend to be a little lower priced than AoA suites and you could walk to Sports. Or a cabin at FW? It looks like you are a party of 5+infant, so there are not a lot of options. You could also look into renting points at DVC. Many families your size opt for off-site; Wyndham Bonnet Creek gets a lot of good reviews from larger families.

Enjoy your vacation!

Have you looked at a suite at ASMu...they are generally cheaper than AOA suites, but would be more room while staying in the same room

Thanks all for your suggestions. I looked into a lot of different options, both on and offsite and we booked last night. 2 rooms (hopefully connecting) at Sports. Hubby and I stayed at Sports in February and enjoyed it and we know our kids will too. Plus, last minute....MIL decided she wants to tag along so we definitely had to go with 2 rooms. :) 2 rooms were cheaper than a suite.

That must be the difference there is two adults here. The guarantee must be if there is only one adult.

No, I'm sorry, but this is a common misconception. There is NO guarantee of connecting rooms, no matter how many adults, even if they tell you at booking it's guaranteed, even if you manage to get them to put it in writing on your confirmation. If you read the small print WDW only guarantees that you will have a room somewhere onsite. They don't even guarantee which resort or "preferred" rooms or upgraded views even when you have paid. Yes, most often there is no problem. Yes, most times a request for connecting rooms is granted. But it is never guaranteed. OP seems to be willing to take that risk, and in January it probably won't be a problem.

When we went back in 2011, it was the 1st week of January and we requested connecting rooms because at the time we had our 2 older kids and my sister and brother came....luckily we got the connecting rooms. I too was thinking since it's January, we should be good. But I do know we might not. We'll make it work. I wish it was guaranteed though.
