Possibly taking my niece in August (while her mom is in Canada), need to narrow my list of resorts (short list to give CRO when codes come out). It will be me, my husband, my niece and maybe G'ma as a "scavenger hunt" surprise. Everyone's fav park is Epcot. We will have a car. Have never been in August - would like to be able to relax in the heat of the afternoon. Want to stay at Home Away From Home, but may need moderate as back up (in case I can't get a deal). Suggestions anyone???

Thanks!!!!:)

Home Away From Home resorts don't always come up in the discounts but they do sometimes with the annual passholder discounts. Of course that would mean that someone in your party must have an annual pass to qualify for the discount.

Since Epcot is your favorite resort, I would recommend going with the Beach Club Villas or the Boardwalk Villas, since both are right next door to Epcot (easy walking distance). If you end up with a moderate, maybe go for Caribbean Beach resort since it is very close to Epcot (must take bus or drive) and in certain areas of the resort you can see the fireworks from the Illuminations show at Epcot in the evenings.

Gee, I hope my hubby won't mind my getting an AP for WDW again :p

We had a discounted 1 bedroom at BWV in Sept/Oct 2001, and got bumped due to construction. They gave us a 1 bedroom at OKW for less than $200/nt. I don't recall if we had a regular code or AP.

I think I am most concerned about the heat. How bad is August? We are "dry heat" people, so to speak ;) I did live in MN for a few years - is Florida comparable in humidity and bugs?

Thank everyone!!!

We love staying on the Boardwalk. I would totally recommend it. Have a great trip!

I hope it will be a good trip. If we stay at BWV or BCV, should we get a 1bdrm or 2bdrm? My niece is 11, and we are not sure if g'ma is coming (she lives out of state). I am trying to convince my mom to be the big "prize" at the end of a MK scavenger hunt for my niece - she wants g'ma to come, and she would just flip!!! So, we want everyone to be comfortable. Any ideas?

August in the World ~ I have taken many trips in August due to my schedule - our latest was Aug. 2002. Bugs are not a problem -I've never even had a mosquito bite. The heat and humidity is high. 90+ degrees with humidity to match. We go out early in the morning and return to our resort by early afternoon for a pool or nap break. We then start out again for dinner PS at 5:30 and then into a park after.

The later you go in August the lighter the crowds making the travel through the parks a little more bearable.
