We just returned from an abbreviated trip to WDW (it was supposed to be an 8 night stay, but we ended up coming home early due to the death of my FIL).

We rented points from a very nice member here on the boards & stayed for 4 nights at SSR.

WOW!

We all loved SSR. The location, the room, the view of DTD - all spectacular!

We've been frequent WDW travelers for about 6 years now. 3 of our visits have been at OKW. We loved the spaciousness of the rooms there & the convenience of being able to park near our unit.

We had been thinking of DVC for awhile, but stayed on the fence due to the ages of our children (17 & 12); thinking that our WDW days might be coming to an end. DH & I finally got to make a brief solo trip in October & realized that we would have just as much fun without the kids in our future.

Our tour of SSR on our last day helped us make our decision. We had a whirlwind trip back & lots of out-of-town guests to deal with upon arrival. This afternoon we made the call to our guide. We are gonna be members!!!!!

Now we have to decide which of the incentive options to take: the 100 bonus points or the $8 dollars off per point. We're not sure we will be returning to Disney before Dec. 31. (hadn't planned to anyway)

How are other new members taking their incentives? Any suggestions out there from your pros? We also have to decide how many points. I was going to be happy with the 150 minimum, but DH says he thinks we need at least 200 & that "we'll add on later" :cool1:

I didn't even know he knew what an add-on was!! :jumping1:

Congratulations and Welcome Home, Neighbor!!
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

So sorry to hear of the passing of your FIL :grouphug:

WELCOME HOME-We took the $8 off per point. We are headed "home" in September! Can't wait!

Congratulations and welcome home! We love SSR and it sounds like you do too!

Which ends up better financially for you? What are the 100 bonus points? Does that mean if you buy 150, you get another "free" for the life of your contract? Does it mean you get another 100 points "free" to use your 1st year only?

The 100 bonus points are a one time only.

very sorry to hear of your loss

But, congrat's on buying in! I hope our trip in Oct to BWV will convince my hubby to take the plunge!

The 100 bonus points are a one-time use at any resort other than SSR. They expire Dec. 31st & can't be banked.

Congrats on your purchase (sorry to hear about your FIL).

We bought into SSR a week ago and were not offered the 100 point bonus (we were very happy to get the $8 per point discount however!).

We were going to buy in for the 150 point minimum, but decided on 160 points because the flexibility it offers when trading outside of Disney (160 points for a 7night/8day stay in a 1 BR during High season with the worldwide collection).

Congratulations! :sunny:

We just became members, well not officially yet, we close in June. But we got word yesterday that our contract is approved! Anyway, we bought during the previous incentive, so we got $10 off per point. We decided on 225 points, and we'll be banking points our first 2-3 years (if all goes as planned anyway... ;) ) Our first trip home to SSR will be Dec. 3-10 this year. :goodvibes
