Please help...

DH and I have booked POR for a week-long trip in January. We made the decision (unless DH did some research) based on what we knew from our trip four years ago. I just spent some time on the resorts board and am a bit dishearted. Lots of people saying that POR is DESPARATELY in need of an overhaul.

We stayed at CSR last time and loved it, but want to do something different. Here's my question, and I need to preface it by saying that we need to stay at a moderate...

1) I'm more in favor of the themeing at POR vs. POFQ. However, I know that POFQ is going through rehab. Do we switch to FQ and request a renovated room, knowing that we could also be effected by the renovation?

2) I know that CBR has been recently gone through rehab, should we just jump ship and try to move our reservation over there?

I'm sure the people on the other boards are just lovely, but I feel like I "know" you guys better than them!! Any advice would be awesome. Particularly if you've stayed at either of the Port Orleans resorts or CBR recently.

I can't help you with POR, but a friend just got back from CBR and they loved it. They loved their room and the whole resort. She said you could tell it had just be re-done.

My favorite moderate is POFQ. I love that it's smaller and easier to get where you are going. Short walk everywhere, to pool, food court, buses. I would recommend moving there, but I didn't know it was going through a rehab or how disruptive it is.

Thanks, Lisa! I've read conflicting reports on the rehab and, since I can't actually go down there myself, don't know who to believe.

I love the themeing of Port Orleans, but would rather risk theming for a nicer room. This trip is to celebrate our fourth anniversary.

Of course I will recommend CBR. :) But keep in mind you are more likely to see a negative comment than a positive. Most people don't come back and say how wonderful their vacation was. Disney does a great job at keeping up their resorts. If you get a room that shows wear and tear ask for another room.

Well I have been fortunate enough to stayat both POR and POFQ

We stayed at POR in 2008 it was our first time on property which may have tainted the perspective but we really liked it the rooms were fine for a basic disney room nothing real special but most of the values/moderates without the newer themed rooms etc. are that way. We found the buildings to be very aesthitically pleasing and we were in a great spot just near a quiet pool in the mansion section which was just a short trip away from the lobby and pool.

However in august of this year we found a new favourite resort POFQ we really loved the quirkiness of the theming here and the rooms were very nice with an interesting bedspread and a reasonably big t.v. the pictures on the walls were eintersting and the frame work of the headboard was nice. The bathroom was well a bathroom it was exactly the same as the one at POR but again it was clean and the furnishings were nice.

I agree with the previous poster who said that the bus was just a short walk away and that was basically true of everything at this resort.

One of the best parts of my experiences was the castmembers at POFQ, they were chatty and fun with lots of tips and info and even those castmembers who worked in the food court were amazing it got to the point that they almost all new are names when we went up to order things and it made us feel special.

Whilst I cannot compare these resorts to CBR I can say that my family's favourite was POFQ however we would definatley stay at POR again as it came in a close second which may be surprising as the only other resort we stayed at was OKW which whilst we loved the size of the rooms and the loud bright pastel colours found it too spread out and not as friendly plus there is no real indoor food court.

I hope my words helped a little.:thumbsup2
