Deciding which resort to purchase second contract...

My heart is set on getting at least a few points at BCV because of the 11 month window. However, I know membership expires much earlier than other resorts.

So, can I purchase as little 50 points (I'm waitlisted for this now) at BCV and book at 11 months out using those points AND points from my other contract at SSR? For example, without borrowing against the BCV contact for the next year... could I book a stay 11 months out that requires 60 points by using 50 points from BCV contract and 10 from SSR?

No you cannot. You can use only BCV points to reserve BCV at 11 months out. The two contracts can be mixed only at 7 months out.

Consider: if all you needed to do was buy some points at BCV to be able to use all the other points you have at another resort to reserve BCV at 11 months out, then everyone would buy hundreds of points at SSR and just do a 25 point add-on at BCV with the ultimate effect that any 11 month priority reserving right that BCV owners are supposed to have would be effectively destroyed.

nope. at 11 months out, you can only use pts from the BCV contract to book BCV. your SSR pts are only good for booking SSR at 11 months out, not any other resort. you need the correct "currency", as some DISers would put it.

That's what I thought... thanks! Fifty points is actually the perfect number for now... It currently takes 32 points for a Deluxe Studio for my son's birthday weekend during choice season. That leaves me plenty of room for increases!

Hopefully the waitlist will come through between now and December for next year!!

Good luck to you! We have bought BCV points just to use at 11 months. We have also had luck in adding weekend days to the 11 month reservations at 7 months, because it still seems that the extra point requirements for weekend nights still make those nights somewhat more available at 7 months.

We have BLT and Aulani points. We only bought 60 Aulani points because we will bank and borrow which will allow us to go every three years. You could do the same with your points if you knew you'd just stay there every two to three years. Just an idea.

Sounds like you're purchasing direct through Disney but have you considered resale? For such a small contract I'd imagine you most likely wouldn't be using the points for anything other than WDW (probably just BCV actually) anyway so the restrictions shouldn't matter. We own points purchased direct at SSR and just last week agreed on an offer for points at BCV through resale. When I was on the phone with the broker she mentioned they had just gotten in a 50 point contract for sale, I think they were asking $100 per point.
