Deciding on week: Late March/early April 2022

Hi all,

We’re heading down this fall, but in looking 11 months out I noticed today that our preferred room type is already booking up for spring 2022 (2BR villa at BWV, Boardwalk view). I’m going to make a tentative reservation until we know our plans and I’m trying to decide between two weeks:

Either the week of March 26- April 3, or the week of April 2-10.

I definitely want to avoid mid-April due to Easter and April school vacation week (Northeast). I also assume that private schools & college breaks still run into mid & late March? Thus I’m leaning towards the first week of April. But if there’s anything I’m not thinking of I‘d appreciate any other thoughts.

I’d go with April too. Any guess is just that but I think March is heavy on Spring breaks and April 17 is Easter which is very busy the week before and after. April 2-10 seems like it could be the temporary dip between.

Thanks, that was my thinking also but just wanted to make sure I wasn’t off base!

Personally, I would go with the week that begins in the last week of March. That week is a heavy spring break week with heavy park crowds, but so is first week of April. The difference will actually be seen beginning on Friday, April 8, when the Easter week crowds start to show up. which crowds are much heavier than other spring break weeks, and thus if you do April 2-10, the crowds will be worse on April 8-10 than on any other days between March 26 and April 10.

Both the week before and the week of Easter are extremely crowded weeks in the parks. The week before Easter is usually a little more so than Easter week itself. That is something even recognized in the modern 7-season point charts -- the week before Easter through Easter Day is now in the highest point season, while the Monday to Saturday after Easter is in the point season just below the highest.

Also, another factor to consider, if you will be purchasing multi-day park tickets, is that the tickets will be cheaper if start date is March 26 rather than April 2.

Just an FYI about park passes. We are going April 02 - 13 2021. Booked flights but too soon for BCV room. But for the first time, we had to upgrade our Gold passes to Platinum passes to allow us to enter the parks for the last few days of our trip. Disney lists the upgrade as $500 I think. Ours were less as they were renewals.

Oh that is a very good point! Assume you mean 2022? I have a DVC gold pass and don’t want to have to upgrade for sure. Yikes! I’ll look up those dates.

I am now leaning towards April 1st for a week, checking out the 8th or 9th. Thanks to hcortesis above I realized my DVC Gold AP is blocked out from April 9-22nd - had completely forgotten about that, yikes! I may also have the opportunity to go visit a good friend the following week in Delray Beach beginning on the 9th as she’ll be flying in from Seattle for Easter week, so that made my decision for me vs late March.

Good point. However I live in the Boston area and by late April the weather starts to get nice here so I prefer to go to FL earlier in the month (I actually prefer early March but that doesn’t work for me next year).
