We finally have decided for 2013 which 2 weeks we are considering. I thought I'd ask for opinions on these before we make the final decision.

November 18-22, 2013. This would also be DH's birthday, but according to the park hours for 2012, the parks do close on the early side.

December 2-6, 2013. No idea what the park hours will be, but like the idea of being there for the Christmas season.

One last thing...we are thinking of doing Mon-Friday, driving in from Phoenix. Would it be better to do Sunday-Thursday instead?

Sorry for being such an idiot and asking so many questions about a vacation a year away, but thank you all for being so friendly and helpful! :yay:

Thanks,
Charlene

I would go the first week of December. Go durin the week. It should be holiday hours so you should be fine. Thanksgiving week is crazy at the parks.

I second the Dec 2-6. Thanksgiving week is supposed to be nuts. We went Dec 6-11 last year and it was perfect, in terms of weather and crowds! Wish we could go the same time this year, but we could only finagle the 13-17 of Nov.

If it were me, I think I would watch and see what happens this year. With Carsland being open, it has really changed things. Also, this will be the first year they have candlelight processional every night starting in December and I think that will change things as well. CP may have such an effect that it may be better to fight the crowds the week of Thanksgiving and be able to be in the park later. No one is really sure how they are going to have two showings of CP each night in addition to parades and fireworks etc. I think the past years are truly in the past and starting this year, it is a whole new ballgame.

Thanksgiving in 2013 is on the 28th. I would probably choose the November dates for lower crowds. Holiday decorations and entertainment will already be in effect. You will probably need to be there on a Sunday or Friday night in order to see the fireworks.

Thank you all for the advice. I truly appreciate it!!!! Looks like we will be doing Dec 2-6, 2013. It'll be the first time I've ever seen Christmas time at Disney.
