Decent hotel in NYC close to ground zero?

I have never been to NYC and am looking for a clean, safe hotel close to ground zero.


Any input would be really appreciated.

There are a couple of hotels overlooking the construction site ... is there any particular reason you have to be near Ground Zero? We stayed in Times Square and a cab to the memorial didn't cost very much.

I did a search on Tripadvisor and it coughed up a few hotels...

When are you going? There was a great deal a couple of weeks back at the Carlton-mid town. $119 a nite..but only till the end of Feb I believe. Also some Omni hotels have had some amazing deals of late..

There's a Marriott overlooking ground zero that is very nice..big rooms for NYC. Ideally..downtown isn't the best location for sheer convenience. I like midtown myself.

I've been to NYC many times and I also stay in midtown. Just more to see in that area. Ground Zero is downtown, which you can easily get to via a subway ride from midtown. But if you really must stay in that area, the Marriott is across the street from Ground Zero. It's a very nice Marriott. You may want to check out using Priceline for a hotel in that area.

We were in NYC in June and stayed at the Hampton Inn Madison Square Garden. Wonderful, safe, clean, renovated rooms, and so central to everything!! We could walk to Times Square, Empire State Bldg, and subway to everywhere else including World Trade Center site! Had a terrific time, packed soooo much into 4 days we were exhausted.

I highly recommend going on Priceline and trying to name your price. The island of Manhatten is very convenient and those subways run very frequently. NYC is a very walkable city.

Look around on Expedia and Travelocity for the average hotel prices, and then name a lower price on Priceline. I know lots of people that have gotten great hotels for a great price like that.

I booked on Expedia for a hotel near Broadway, but I found out that I could've booked it for much less. Good luck!
