Decent Driving Distance Hotels

Hi all! My husband and I are taking a last minute trip this weekend.

Friday the 19th, we'll drive down (3 1/2 hours) from our home in the deserts of So Cal arriving around 11:30. We want to check in, head to DCA for a bit and then hop over to DL for the fireworks.

On the 20th we'll check out of the hotel and head to DL to do some of our favorite rides and depending on crowds, and what we get done on Friday either stay at DL or head to DCA until 5-7pm when we'll leave for home. Having a day off to actually relax before heading back to work is a big deal to us.

I don't mind spending the $15 a day parking at DL, but I do mind spending that AND paying for hotel parking, not sure why.

Does anyone have any recommendations for hotels within a 15 minute drive with decent breakfasts within $115ish they could share?

The only hotel that has any availability within walking distance I could find is Anaheim Desert Inn & Suites and the parking is good until 2 on Saturday - so we'd have to drive our car to DL anyway. Might as well not stay in the craziness!

Thanks all! Appreciate any feedback!

So just park the car at DL your last day. :confused3

We stayed at Homewood Suites Garden Grove. We didn't pay parking BUT I think it might have been because we stayed 6+ nights. They have a pretty reasonable price and free deluxe breakfast. The drive is maybe 5 min to the garage (M&F) and then the time spent driving through the garage.
Not sure if this helps, but thought I would add my 2 cents.

Why not stay within walking distance?

ETA ~ Craziness? I'm not sure I know what you mean.....

The only hotel available within walking distance that I've looked at is Anaheim Desert Inn & Suites. The reviews mention a lot of noise, and with only one night at the hotel, I figured if you're going to drive at all, might as well be somewhere away from that.

I've looked at :
Stovall's Best Western Park Place Inn & Mini-Suites
Hojo's
Anaheim Plaza
Del Sol Inn
Anabella
Ramada Maingate

So I was just wondering if there was a different option a little further away. Obviously, not looking like a popular choice.

Yeah, I'd much rather deal with any "noise" yet be able to walk to the parks (and I put that in quotes because I'm not sure I understand what the reviews mean by that) than deal with driving to and from the parks. Like the PP suggested, I'd just stay close by and on that last day move your car to the Disneyland parking lot and pay the $14 once.

For 1 night I'd pop in some ear plugs, leave the fan on and get what rest I could ~ I bet you'd be fine.

I've never had problems with a lot of noise at Desert Inn and Suites. I have stayed there 3 times.

We just stayed at the Park Vue Inn, which is right across the street from the DL entrance. It has free parking, and a free decent breakfast. Rooms will run about $115/night, and they have availability the 17th.

Also looks like Best Western Park Place Inn has availability that date.

I think most people around here think that if you're going to stay in a hotel, you might as well stay at one that is within walking distance, which is why you're getting the response you are. HydroGuy has a thread with a bunch of good reasons to stay within walking distance - I think it's stickied somewhere. Anyhow, I know it made our trip sooo much less stressful to just have a couple of minute walk back to the hotel at night and not have to worry about trams, or lines, or crowds, traffic, etc.

The two hotels I listed above are the absolute closest ones to the park entrance.

I've been lucky enough to go to DL often enough to want an option that isn't right at the park. But I appreciate all the feedback, and we're going to try the Anaheim Desert Inn and see how it goes.

Can't wait for DL tomorrow! *dances*

We just stayed at the Ayres Inn Orange - booked through Get Away Today.
It is about 10 minutes away. Free parking, free breakfast, free shuttle and they had a special on I think it was every third night free. A GREAT hotel! Clean, fantastic service, free wine at night, nice pool.

If you aren't concerned about being in walking distance I would just go on priceline and choose 4 stars and throw out a low bid. Or do hotwire. You will most likely get a good place for a cheap price (you may have to pay a parking fee, but I am sure you will get a 4 star for far less than $115 and even with a parking fee it would probably still be cheaper).

Check one of those sites like betterbidding.com or one of the others before you book to check what hotels are going for and if you like the ones listed.

I have stayed at the Homewood Suites Garden Grove . about a 5 min drive to the Mickey parking garage. There are dining options in the hotel parking lot (Red Robein, etc) and a Starbucks (I'm a Seattle girl who needs her SB:) I really liked the rooms, the full kitchen, the price, the pool/hot tub and the free breakfast. Very nice!

If we don't do Grand Californian in June, we're considering Embassy Suites Anaheim South, Hampton Inn & Suites Garden Grove and the Doubletree Suites. All highly rated/heard good things about them, could walk if you really wanted, and maybe just right above your price range. We have AAA, and all three have a decent discounted rate.
