Can anyone tell me what the weather is like in December? I would like to go during Christmas, spend Christmas there and such, but not if it is going to be cold or hurricany weather :)~ I appreciate any help with this.

Thanks, Amanda

In general, the weather in Orlando in Dec. in warm with highs in the 60's and 70's. Also, Dec. is not a particularly rainy month. However, cold fronts do push down into Florida and can drop the temps significantly. (It won't be hurricane season, so that's not a factor.) For example, we went on a cruise this past Dec. On our embarkation day, it was sunny with temps in the upper 70's. However when we returned, 7 days later, we debarked to a cold wind and 40 degree temps.

At WDW can vari greatly this time of year. We've been first part of December for last 14 years and have experienced everything from very cold to very hot and everything in between. So we bring a few extra clothing items to cover what ever comes. We have not experienced much rain or storms during this time frame.Hope this helps a little.::yes:: :wave2:

How busy it is during the third week fo December as compared to Christmas week or even the week of New Years?

We are trying to put together a family trip and can decide on dates. Is there any place that lists actual gate attendance numbers in each park?

The period between Thanksgiving and Christmas is the best time of the year to go to WDW, imho. The weather is almost always nice. It's the dry season down here and it never gets too cold. The average temp. is in the mid 60's. But you can expect high 60's/low 70's in the day and low 60's/high 50's at night. Plus the crowds tend to be light. The closer to the holidays, the higher the crowds. And the parks are completely decorated for the Christmas season. I never miss a chance to go at that time of the year. The only disadvantage is that the parks close earlier than they do in the summer. I hope this is helpful.

The weather in Florida for winter varies from year to year. I have been there at that time of year and it was beautiful 70s, one day of rain and dropped down to the 30s.
Here is a site with historic temps.

For this time a year the best suggestion is to bring a little of everything. Think layers. You will probably need pants and a jacket as the wind around the lakes will cool things down.
Disney makes a lot of money off of guest who dont pack correctly and end up buying expensive Disney jackets, sweats etc.

Also when it gets a little closer you might want to check out the local paper's forecast at www.orlandosentinel.com

On the pro side this is a wonderful time of year to visit. I also suggest earlier in the month to visit, as the week between xmas and NYE is the busiest week for the park annually. IF you do decide to go for the holiday stay at a Disney resort. The parks historically fill to capacity and if you are at an offsite hotel you are out of luck. You will also need to watch the 90day PS mark as you will need to make PS for xmas eve & day. If you wait your choices will be limited to counter service locations.

Thank you for all your information. How soon do they put all the Christmas decorations out? That is the main reason I want to go. I was talking to my parents though, and we are not sure we can afford to go this year. Maybe next :(

We were there Christmas week this past year. I packed only t-shirts and jeans and also took light jackets with us. It was in the lowere 60's to upper 60's most days and we did have a couple of afternoons where it got up almost to 80 - but other than that the t-shirts and jeans were perfect. When we needed the jackets at night, we wore them. And it didn't rain on us one time!
