Plans changing again! On the verge of booking for 17th Nov-5th Dec, but DH has decided we should look at Xmas instead!

We want a least ONE quiet week before the parks get busy, so plan to travel around 7th-10th Dec, depending on flight availability. We would come back between Xmas & New year around the 30th Dec (DD starts first year at school on 3rd Jan, so need recovery time!).

Can anyone tell me what the run up to Xmas is like? The latest we have been is Dec 5th (lovely, very quiet).

Thanks!
Allie

I've been up to 16th December and it has still been quiet. Wonderful time to go and I can recommend it wholeheartedly. We've been lucky with the weather too.

I know it gets very busy actually at Christmas, but I think the US children don't get much in the way of Christmas holidays off school, so that's perhaps why only Christmas/New Year weeks are really busy.

Off to airport hotel tomorrow! Mucho excitement!

Hi Allie

We're travelling out on 9th Dec and from my extensive research (!!) we've think that we should get at least one week to 10 days of the parks being quiet - think with Xmas being on the weekend this year it could be busy from the Monday (20th)onwards but am hoping no earlier than that!

Cheers

Karen

We have always found it to be quiet up to Christmas day and very busy from 24 to 2 Jan.

We're going on 16th December and coming back on the 30th so I'm hoping that most of the first week will be quietish before it gets busier for christmas - from what people have posted so far, it sounds like we should have some days where it's not too bad, fingers crossed :D

According to the UG it starts to get busy the weekend before Xmas....this accords with the trip we took coming back Xmas Eve a few years ago.

Last year we went 6th to 20th December and it was quiet until our last couple of days.

We hardly queued for anything and it was a real joy. I'd definitely go at that time of year again.

I am going from the 4th to the 18th December.

What would the average queue time be? I usually go in October so this is all different for me. Will I still catch the sun, and would it be possible to do a waterpark?

Hi Kina

I think you should be practically walking onto most rides except for the biggies (and there's FP to cover those!)

I must point out I have never been in December myself before but from what everyone has told me, the weather can be pretty changeable -some days hot and sunny:sunny: and others not much better then at home in winter (I'm hoping this is an exaggeration though, LOL). I think you have to play it by ear and if it is generally a bit nippy, when you get a sunny day, do the waterparks (in case you don't get another one!)

Having said that, there must be enough sun as it's still possible to get a tan (though obviously depends on the weather!) I think you'd be very unlucky to not get any nice warm days.

I'm really looking forward to seeing all the xmas decorations and doing some xmas shopping :D

I got tickets for MVMCP and a PS for LTT at the weekend for our last night, 17th December. It's going to be really weird, this will be my 5th visit, but my 1st in December.

Thanks for your help :)

I'm getting my MVMCP tickets soon - can't wait!! LTT is a perfect venue for a Christmassy style meal.

That's what I thought.

We were lucky enough last October to get a PS on the day for LTT when we were staying on for MNSSHP. It was such a wonderful meal, the character interaction was fab and our server was a darling. Plus the food was yummy, it's one of the moments that most sticks in my mind. I thought that it would be great to do it on our last night as you know how OTT the americans are (in a good way ;) ) about events like Halloween and Christmas, it will be nice to feel all Christmassy, I haven't felt excited about Christmas since I was about 12 ;) :hyper
