Hi! Anyone travelled in December? Whats weather like for us Brits? Read mixed reviews- shorts and tee shirts or coats and hats? Would waterparks be an option?

Thanks!

all of the above :)

I have been several times in december and have enjoyed sunny weather with temps in the low 80s to buying gloves in animal kingdom .. as it was absolutely freezing..
i have also experienced like 5 days of constant drizzle on one trip (it was just like being home)

most times you can wake up to frost on the grass then it warms up from 11.00am onwards (shorts and t shirts) but as soon as the sun sets it can go really chilly..so back on with a jacket or fleece ..

I will be taking shorts and t shirts and defo a fleece or cardi for the mornings/evenings. I will also take a pair of jeans incase there is a cold front.

I think layers are the key ... use the lockers for your warmer layers during the day :)

sorry it is not definitive but the weather in December can vary so much.
the plus side is that the humidity is really low and you get so much more done in a day than when the heat/humidity slows you down...

with regards to the water parks, I would check the weather channel whilst out there and go to the water park on the day that is forcast to be warmest..there will defo be a warm period ..I have never had a whole two weeks of cold/rain

I never do an itinerary i just do a plan with the times of fireworks/parades special days EMHs etc then I have a printout with busy days.. then when we get there we can plan around the weather easily..

I agree...be prepared for all kinds of weather...we've been a few times in early Dec and been pretty lucky with the weather....we've always came back with good tans...but early mornings can be pretty cool....lol think Brits walking down I Drive wearing shorts[ purple legs ] while the locals are all wrapped up in coats and gloves....but..usually by 11 it can be lovely and warm...then gets cooler again at night....I always pack for summer....with maybe a fleece thrown in....anything else I can get over there

I always thought the weather in Dec would be like a scottish summer ??

Well a Scottish summers not hard to beat... ;)
Some days wayyyyyyy hotter than a Scottish summer

seriously in Dec wooo hooo!!! i'll come back with a tan lolol instead of going out pale and coming back paler.

Last December we had a bit of everything :)

A few days of light rain - max temperatures in the low 60s
A few days of lovely warm sunshine - max temperatures in high 70s
A few days of cloud/sunny intervals - max temperatures in high 60s/low 70s

Mornings tended to be cool and crisp until after 10am.

Once the sun started to go down the temperature dropped. Most evenings we needed a light jacket or sweat shirt. There were a few evenings where we had sweatshirts and coats!

Take layers that can be easily removed/added.

We found we were just right with jeans or lightweight trousers and t-shirts for most of the day with a warm fleece for early morning and late evening. People seem to dress to extremes we saw lots of people in scarves and gloves but they were mainly Americans who I presume come from the warmer states and are not used to colder weather and then there were the 'die hard' Brits in shorts & vests dithering for much of the early part of the day but too proud to put on a jacket :rotfl: The mornings are quite chilly but it soon warms up and I'd say then it's like a nice June day at home :)
