December visit--weather & crowds?????

Hello! I'd appreciate anyone's input on a mid-December trip to WDW. We were there last November 6-12 and the weather was still quite warm (upper 80's) and were surprised by the crowd level. We are considering another trip this year (kids now 2 and soon to be 6 are begging to see Mickey again!) but want to go when it's cooler and possibly less croweded. We are thinking about a Mon-Sat trip so that we can attend parks all during weekdays. However, with a child who just started kindergarten, we also are considering using some weekend days. Are December weekend days crowded?

We are also frustrated with the WDW website for planning the trip, it seems to be so slow and the codes/specials that are shown are always 'no longer available' when we ask for them. How do we go about getting the best deal?
