With all the cold weather posts I'm getting nervous about what to take. I agree that 40 in Florida is way more miserable then 40 where I'm from (Utah). It is damp and goes right down to your bones. I am definitely packing hats and lightweight gloves and scarves but now I'm debating on whether or not to bring a heavier coat. What's everyone planning? I HATE to be cold and I've never been in December :confused3.

Last year (and again this year) we will wear down our winter coats. 3 of our 8 days were wonderful, in the 80's. 2 of them were rainy cold and in the 40s. The others were in the 50-60 range. The night of MVMCP was freezing (literally, it was frost and freeze warnings for the night and the next night) I had on my winter coat, stretch gloves and a smile. We were toasty warm and had a wonderful time. I would rather take my coat off on the plane than risk being cold. It was a damp bone chilling kinda cold so I was glad we were prepared for it.

I plan on wearing my fleece on the plane, and packing another light weight jacket. I am already planning on buying a Disney sweatshirt, so that is one less thing to pack I figure. I am always overpacked, and I am determined to do better this year! I am also packing a pair of stretch gloves and a hat- they couldn't take up but so much room I figure. Other than that, I plan on packing 2 pairs of jeans, some capris, and calling it a day---- hopefully ;) We are only going to be there 7 days, so I figure this should be enough. If not, it's just another excuse to buy a long sleeve DIsney tee :thumbsup2

We're planning on bringing our coats and hoodies. We're flying in from KC, so more than likely it will be quite cold here. I'd rather have it in case I do need it, than not have it at all!

Our last three trips have been in December. Last December was the first year that we did not need a heavy coat for at least one of the days. Most days, we would wear a long sleeved Tshirt and start with a light jacket, removing the jacket as the day wore on. However, this was for daytime touring and two of those three years, we would have at least one bitterly cold day and needed the heavy coat. If you are planning on evening entertainment, I would strongly recommend bringing a coat as the nights are obviously, much colder and the wind blowing the cold, damp air would cut right through you. Just my $.02.

Have a great trip. Maybe I'll see you there.

My Winter coat isn't very bulky, so I plan to wear it onto the plane. And I'm packing a hoodie, too.

We bring hoodies as well as lined windbreaker-type jackets. At night, we often have a short-sleeved shirt, a long-sleeved shirt, a hoodie, and the jacket. To me, the layering is warmer than just one big coat anyway.

Good call bringing hats (or earmuffs) and gloves! During the day is fine, but the night chill can definitely nip at the ol' ears.

I'll have to wear my jacket to the airport anyways so I will just wear it on the plane. I plan on packing hoodies.

Bring your heavy coat. The coldest I've ever been in my life (and I've lived in Co.) was at the mk one Christmas. There were strong winds and a damp 34 degrees. Part of that trip was 80. It is just very unpredictable.

I've been trying to decide the same thing for January! I go in November and December a lot, and I usually just take a hoodie, but a lot of times there has been a night where I've wished I had an actual coat. I just can't decide if all that extra bulk in the suitcase is worth it, especially since I switch resorts several times, so I have to keep repacking!

Definately bring the coat, scarf, hat, gloves, hoodie, long-sleeve shirts, and pants. It gets very cold in Florida in the winter. I'm a native New Yorker and sometimes it isn't such a relief to be going to Florida in the winter as its just as cold there as it is home.

I bring all the above....hoodies, tanks, tees, turtle necks, scarfs, mittens & gloves. I also bring my burburry quilted jacket, which is light but warm and roomy enough to layer.

You also have to remember your feet! I don't know about you but if my feet are cold the rest of me is freezing. I wore UGG boots the entire week...I am wearing them again for this Dec too.

I'd recommend checking the weather forecast the day before you depart. Who knows, it may be warm and sunny and you'll need shorts and t-shirts. Just my 2 cents. :goodvibes

Hoodies and Jackets all the way. Florida weather is really beautiful in December, but it can be quite nippy when the sun is not shining.

Did you see the weather reports for next week????/I leave the 28th too----and it is supposed to get into the 80's by day and 60's at night...... :yay:

According to a news report that I read today, which of course I can't find anywhere to quote for you, said that last night, Tuesday Nov 21, 2006 there were, ok, hold onto your seats, SNOW. Yes, snow.

So to answer your question, bring coats, scarf, gloves, mittens. ((MAybe even galoshes :confused3 just teasing))

Ive been down in December a couple times and I would say bring hoodies for during the day and at night have a medium weight jacket because it does get pretty cold.

Ok, well here's my problem. I live in Florida and we really don't have heavy coats. We have jackets. We just don't really need big coats since florida doesn't usually get too cold. We don't have gloves, scarves, etc. and I'm leaving in 14 days! I don't know what to do. I won't have extra money until the day before our trip! I didn't think it would get this cold, now we're probably going to be freezing down there. I can picture it now: Me, DBF and DD3 standing on Mainstreet waiting for the parade and we're shivering. I better think of something fast.

That's what I plan on doing. No sense in packing a winter coat if the low at night is in the upper 50's, which is hoodie weather for me not coat weather. I also plan on packing some mock turtlenecks which is great for layering under a sweathshirt. If it gets too warm, simply peel back layer!
