Hello, everyone. I am new to the boards, to FW, and to WDW. I have booked our family (myself, DH, DS-9, DD-7, DS-3, DD-1) for Loop 1500 (requested) 11/30-12/6. I am so excited. We are not planning to tell the kids until close to time b/c there is a chance we may have to cancel.
I have been reading this board, and you all are full of great information.

I have a few questions, and am sure I will have more later, if you don't mind helping me out.

1. Is December decent weather wise for tent camping? Should we bring electric blankets for nightime, and will it be warm enough in the daytime to need a fan?

2. Can you get around the fort without a golf cart? Is Loop 1500 close enough to walk to the ferry boat or will we *need* a cart or bikes?

3. Are there washers and dryers available in every loop?

Thank you so much!

Welcome Jmomx4! I have camped at the Fort in Dec a couple of times and it was great. I used a small electric space heater. Just check your forcast before you leave, it could be a little warm or it could be cold at night. usually the first week of Dec is perfect tent weather, its a lot easier to get warm than to get cool in the summer. The 1500 loop is to far to walk to the marina, you need a GC or bikes or just catch the bus at your camp loop, it will take you there. Most folks love golf carts for fun and for transportation, it really is a big part of what makes the fort so special. Yes all comfort stations have washer and dryers. have fun planning your trip!

Thank you for your reply!

I have never used a space heater. They make me nervous with the little ones, but I could probably get over that.

I usually bring an electric blanket and a fan in December. The electric blanket is to keep warm at night and the fan is to ventilate the tent during the day to combat the humidity.

The walk from the 1500 loop to the marina is very manageable. I've done it many times. I've done the walk to the Outpost also. Consider this, it's two miles around the World Showcase lagoon in Epcot and folks walk that many times. It's about a mile from one end of the campground to the other. However, bicycles will make it easier, and there are buses from your loop to either end of the campground.

Yes, there is laundry in every comfort station.

Yeah, someone actually posted a picture a little while ago. I'll see if I can gfind the thread and post it here. Carol is right, it can be very warm or cool -- it's a toss up. You should bring blankets and a fan to cover every thing.

I have all of ONE family tent camping trip under my belt but it was very very cold and I learn something very important...

Air Matresses when laid on a cold ground are COLD to sleep on.. So while an electric blanket would keep your topside warm, your back will be chilled to the bone... Soooooooo either get an electric matteress PAD or get nice thing foam mattress pad to give you some space between yourself and the air mattresss below.

Just make sure it has the auto-off tip-over thingie (sorry, don't know the technical terms for it) and a thermostat (not as important but is safer).
