December popularity

Are some DVC more popular and more difficult to book at the 7 month mark in December? We'll be there December 18-28, 2011.

Its a very popular time, when members tend to travel. Those are smaller resorts. THV falls into the "almost a Grand Villa for a bargain" category - they will book fast anytime the time of year is popular. VWL is really well themed for that time of year, and BW and BC are also very well decorated. BWV and BCV book fast whenever the time of year is popular.

Where do you own? Book there at 11 months and then try to switch to where you want to be at 7 months. It may be difficult though for the reasons already given.

We own at VWL and book at 11 months out to be able to stay there in early December.

We own at SSR and are going to stay there for at least 5 nights, it's the other 5 nights that are up in the air. I was thinking possibly SSR then THV (I know it's technically the same resort but it feels VERY different) would be the easiest but we really enjoy split stays and I am wanting to try all of the resorts at least once.

I would say book your trip at the 11 month window at SSR/THV, and then if you choose to change some of the nights to a different resort at 7 months, you can do that if it's available. Either way, you will have a room for your whole trip guaranteed if you book it all at the 11 month window.

Great advice. I am going to book a one bedroom at SSR and a THV at 11 months and go from there.

After looking through a ton of photos, it seems they all look really great during December, some more festive though than others.

My guess is some DVC resorts are smaller and harder to get into regardless of the time of year.

I am always drawn to the OKW for some reason but we have stayed there and I am thinking I want to try something new.
