december planning!

what dates in december are the best to go? my kids go to year round school so they are out first friday in december. we can go anytime after that. we are flying from vancouver canada...so would like to stay 5 nights. when is usa thanksgiving? should we go before that or after?

i would go the second full week for less crowds. Right after the Candleight Processional which is always the first full weekend in December. There are Cast Party's that Mon and Tues. so DL park closes at 6:00 those 2 days and CA park stays open later until 9:00. I always enoy these days as they still offer early entry. We got into the park at 7:00 one day that week. If you can stay onsite and use early entry everyday that it is available it really makes it worth it. This is a beautiful time to go to DL.

"Best" means different things to different people. Lower crowds? More entertainment? Having all rides and shows operating?

Crowds on weekends including Friday night and especially on Sunday are busy all month, as are the days near and between Christmas and New Years.

It will be less busy earlier in December. There will also be less entertainment on weekdays.

If it was me I would plan a multi day trip to end on Saturday. That would give Friday night and Saturday for increased entertainment options, and lower crowds on the weekdays. We have gone the last two trips during the week (Sunday - Friday) before the week of Christmas and it has been absolutely fantastic. Crowds were still manageable, fantasmic was playing, all of the beautiful decorations were up, cool weather and nothing closed for refurbishment. Mind you, the parks closed an hour earlier than during the Christmas week but 11pm is still fine with us. That's our plan for the future visits, also. Happy planning!

I agree the second week is wonderful. I was there last Dec 10-13 and it rocked! I got home and booked next year same week. Mid week Dec everything was up and running. Fantasmic 2x even on a Thursday, low crowds. Shhh! don't tell anyone!
