December or April for Disney World

Hi all,
We are planning a trip to Disney and I can't decide the best time to go. We would be able to either go the first week in April 2012 or December 2012 over school Christmas Break. I would love to see the Christmas decorations but worry about Christmas crowds. I also would rather go when the weather is a little cooler. But our main consideration is to go when the crowds will be more managable.

Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

I assume you're considering April because of spring break. Next year Easter is April 8th, and a whole lot of school districts plan spring break that week so the parks will be a zoo. All things considered, I would do Christmas. Since you'll be fighting crowds either way, you might as well enjoy the Christmas atmosphere while you're at it. And plan your strategy, book your ADR's, use fastpass, rope drop, with several "what if" contingency plans built in.

Thanks for the tip about Easter. I was looking at the school break schedule and didn't think to check a "real" calendar to see when Easter was going to be.

Disney in April is beautiful!!!! We will be back April 11th-20th. Easter is early next year so the crowds shouldn't be too bad. We LOVE the weather at this time of year.

So Easter is April 8,... Do you think the week leading up to Easter will be better, just as bad, or worse than the week following Easter?
