Hi All ~

What's the weather like in Florida/WDW around Dec 27-Jan 5?

Are there any DING's around that time?

Thanks! Sandra

Hi SandraC...

SW Dings...Do not count on Dings from SW during the period from around Dec 21st - Jan 10th. For the last 2 years I watched religiously for them at that time (DW and I travel to WDW at Christmas/New Years) and none showed up. It is a high demand travel season and SW sells out those flights quite easily. I had a similar discussion a couple of months ago on another thread and none of the other posters could recall Dings at that time. That is one of the reasons I booked AirTrain 2 weekends ago ($470US total for myself and wife) departing BUF on Dec 29th and returning Jan 5th.

Weather...Like most others will say, I'll say that you need to be prepared for anything at that time of year. You can experience low 40s to high 80s during the daytime from day to day. Two years ago it was in low 60s first day, mid 70s to low 80s the next 9 days and low 50s the last day. This past Christmas season we had one cold day and spent the rest of the time in the high 70s to mid 80s. But my wife has been that time of the year when people were wearing winter coats and earmuffs. You can find yourself wearing t-shirts and shorts during the day and jeans and a sweatshirt at night. When it gets cool/cold I tend to wear a wind-breaker and sweatshirt. I like to dress in layers. Best investment we made...cheap thin knit gloves from Zellers. Hands nice and toasty at night and the rest of you feels warm!

For the last three years, we have been in Florida during the same time frame. Weather wise, completely agree with poster above.

Regarding flights, I highly doubt you will see a DING for your outbound flight. In fact, when SWA releases the week between Christmas and New Years, the lowest fare buckets show unavailable . You might want to consider Airtran for that flight.

Inbound, you have a slightly better chance for a DING, but might have better luck with a SWA seat sale . We flew on SWA MCO-BUF Jan 6/07 non-stop for $59 each (seat sale, NEVER saw a DING for this date). We had set up car rentals to be dropped off at MCO TPA and Fort Myers (RSW) just in case we weren't able to get a cheap fare home from MCO, but luckily we were.

We have travelled to Florida over the Christmas holidays many times and have seen highs in the 80's and lows in the 30's. You never know but I have found the norm to be 65 to 68 degrees during the daytime. It is the most wonderful time to visit DisneyWorld. Usually the cold snap will last for 3 or 4 days and then it warms up again
