This was our lst time on the dining plan and I have to say the counter service stuff was totally confusing and dh messed it up a few times, This trip it was just dh and myself. This year I have had cancer, a coma, 7 surgeries, 7 blood transufusions, so this trip was definetely a dream come true. (sorry no pictures), santa needs to bring a nice camera to me!, sorry nicky, my report cant hold a candle to your great reviews
Wed. Dec.9th. Shared a grilled turkey sandwich at Studio Catering Co. It was the grilled turkey. I had this before and boy has the quality gone donwnhill. There were 2 pieces of turkey and some giant huge bread. The fries were good and hot and the strawberry parfait was acceptable. The only good thing about this meal is that we got the 20% shoping cpn. discount. I think.
We had an adr for cape may buffet. O.K. we were about an hour late, maybe 45 min. the studios boats were so full we had to wait for 3 of them. Then the cm lost our reservation!! So we waited a long time with the pager, I think we were finally seated at around 9 pm.
Good - All dh would eat was 2 buckets of crab legs and cornbread
Good - for me, the minestrone soup, it even had mickey pasta in it! The cold shrimp were already peeled and seasoned well, the sausage and peppers were good too, the roast chicken was flavored well.
Bad - Since it was the end of the night dh got me the last serving of sliced beef,O.K. I like well done stuff, but this was the end and pratically inedible.
Desserts - I liked the flan as usual. It needed some berries or fruit though. It was just plain.
Thursday December 10th - Lunch at Crystal Palace[
Good - love the rolls here, the soup was turkey vegetable I think. Dh had cream of tomato. I didnt care for the flavor of that. The salads were fresh, I like the tomato and fesh mozzarella one. I think I had chicken again. Nothing particular stood out.
Desserts - I love the little pecan squares and the bread pudding
Counter service - Kringla/Norway
This is where dh started messing up the counter service. I told him an entree, side, dessert etc. Needless to say he went back and straightened it all out and learned the new term, counter service credit!!
Dh - open salmon sandwich, orange custard pudding
Me - Norwegian club,bean soup and cloudberry horn
I dont really know what the soup was, dh got it, it was thick and hearty and tomato with tons of beans. The sandwich was huge and toasted perfectly. I didnt care for the cloudberry horn but ate it, dh said the guy in front on him got the last sweet pretzel. I took a bit of dh orange pudding, I didnt care for it. He devoured it. It was creamy but had a different taste.
Friday Dec llth- Lunch Tusker House
We were going to be seated really far away from the buffet, dh asked the cm seating us and told her about my problem walking, so she got the manager and we got a different table. There was a little problem with the serving cm and the cm tracking tables but it got all straightened out.
Soup was ham and bean, I passed.
Good - The rolls, samosas, mac and cheese, chutney, mint couscous,spciy gravy for the carved meat
Great - of course the banana bread pudding and stawberry mouse cups with the chocolate cup.
Diiner - Chefs de France, dh checked us in and the cm replied - "oh good, an american who actually checks in on time, wow I cant believe he said that to dh. We were 20 min. early.
Well I guess that was a good thing as we were rewarded with a table right up at the window, perfect view for illuminations and we had practically the same table last year for our anniv.
We both decided on the 3 course meal, since we could get an appetizer, which you cant do with the regular dining plan, this was what they offered here
DH - onion soup, braised short ribs, and creme brule
Me - salad, short ribs and profitelleros (this is not spelled right)
Dh didnt care for his soup but ate it all, and said he loved the short ribs. I had a bite of his creme brule and it was very creamy.
me - The salad was fresh, but too crunchy, too many croutons and walnuts and the blue cheese dressing was practically non existent. I was tired of crunching and gave some of the salad to dh. My short ribs were fork tender too and the side of pasta was dry and an overwhelming portion with 3 cherry tomatoes I think. My dessert was heavenly, Dh couldnt get enough of it either, yum-o!!
