December footwear...

I usually swear by my Timberland boots but I got a pair of Goretex boots for our trip to Krakow earlier in the year - there was deep snow and it snowed the whole time we were there and my feet stayed toasty and dry so I think I will be bringing them along with my trainers next week.

Hi.

I just read your post and looked up goretex boots as i had never heard of them. Are they easy to clean too as well as keep your feet dry etc?, i have just taken up carp fishing again and am looking for a pair of boots to use. If these do the trick i could wear them for disney too in january.

Last year I switched between my leather boots and sturdy leather brogues, always with at least two layers of socks! The boots worked a treat, however I found myself slipping around a little when wearing my brogues. Honestly, when we were there in mid-December I noticed the ice far more than I did the cold, so I'd definitely reccommend going for something with a decent tread.

My mum wore leather boots with thermal socks and was fine. My dad and little brother wore their Timberland boots which were perfectly suited. My sister wore her fake Uggs and did complain a little of damp toes, however only very slightly after trudging through melting snow.

These are the pair I have http://www.portstewartclothing.com/women-boots/1857-regatta-lady-touchstone-blueskies-watermark.html - normally expensive but this shop is a couple of miles from me and I get all my outdoor gear there - they kept my feet warm and dry in Krakow(there was at least 6in of snow and it snowed most of the time we were there) and in the horrendous snow that we had last December (we had 8 inches fell in a couple of hours) and at Disney in November when it was wet. I have never had any need to clean them and will be digging them out again soon! I reckon any dirt would probably brush off when dry.
