So tonight at dinner we were trying to decide if we should fly or drive

Driving 2.5 days about 1000 for gas hotels and food
Flying 2.5 hours about 1800

Normally we drive and dinky with 2 nights hotels and arrive around lunch time on the third day

Our problem is the mountains

Anyone know what they are generally the end of dec beginning of jan

I know storms can occur anytime throwing off the quota but generally I can say our Christmas and new years are pretty green/brown the past 10 plus years and snow doesn't come too mid jan so I know from home to buffalo will prob be clear

What about the rest??

Anyone drive this route late December early jan?

The problem will be if a storm comes thru I-95 that results in ice/snow. Sometimes a storm comes thru that cause a couple of inches of snow in the one area but can cause ice on the roads a little further south. If you can make it work I would fly.

Agree. It's the South you probably need to worry more about. The farther S. the less able (or inclined) they are to clear the roads for safe driving.
