Due to a conflict with mid term finals, we are NOT going to do the WDW Christmas season trip,... BUT it looks like we can get down there MLK week (Jan16) for about 5-6 days.

Are the crowds as 'modest' in Jan as they are in mid December, and how swimmable are the January/Florida temperatures?

(Right now lit ooks like the Beach Club resort).

thanx.

DB.

MLK will be slightly crowded but not to bad I dont believe. The water at Disney is heated so if its a fairly warm day you shouldnt get to chilly.
The weather there is a lot like here in Houston and it could be hot one day and cold the next. Its unpredictable around that time.

Yes, January crowds are very light starting January 2nd!

Water in the pools is heated but the air is not always heated! Daytime highs could be in the 80s, or they could be in the 50s with morning temperatures below 40. Pack everything you own!

The last time I went to WDW was the first week of January, 2005. The crowds are quite sparse. As for the weather, it was really warm during the day time, but at night it cooled off a lot. You might want to bring a light sweater or something.

We've been in January the last several years. Last year during marathon weekend. It was really nice weather-wise. I think it was 2003 when we went it was freezing!! I think 2004 was nice and we were surprised it wasn't more crowded during MLK weekend. It really wasn't bad. We'll probably go the same time in 2006.

I have been to WDW twice during MLK week, 2002 and 2005. In 2002 it was warm during the day - shorts and t-shirts weather - and cool at night - sweaters, light jackets, or sweatshirts. In 2005 it was cold during most days and really cold at night, as in down jacket, ski hats and mittens cold. We had checked the weather forecasts and it wasn't supposed to get as cold as it did. We weren't prepared and had to buy warmer clothing. The stores were running low on sweatshirts and hats and In fact my DD who was 2 at the time wore mittens and a hat as well as 2 sweatshirts during most days and her coat and a blanket in addition at night. The last day or so it warmed up some to 60s during the day but still got quite cold at night. We are talking about going again in 2006, and this time I'll be better prepared for either warm or cold weather.
