December at Capacity?

Does anyone know if they release reservations on a given day of the week?

Currently, all dates are blocked out for December. I am hoping they are just holding some back and releasing them each week.

It's funny, when people were upset about the reservation system I just dismissed their worries. My thought was that DL rarely actually hits capacity. So, spontaneous trips would still totally be feasible for almost all days of the year. Looks like I was wrong.

For those of you with reservations/tickets, have an awesome time!

I agree, although now "capacity" doesn't mean what it used to. No one except Disney knows what that number is, since now it's also based on staffing. If they don't have enough Cast Members working I'm sure capacity is much lower than what it used to be.

Having gone in previous years it was a lot more crowded than this year. Even parking structures and lots would fill and close mid day which hasn't happened since reopening yet.

(covid capacity restrictions no longer apply in SoCal, so I assume it's due to staff now)

Yeah, I was assuming it iss staffing issues now too. However, that also means that if they plan for low attendance days, then they somehow have to manage getting enough staff on for days when reservations are higher than they expected. If so, this seems more like a potential long term issue.

Was there Sun+Mon this past week - parades definitely making an impact on lines. Palpable difference in standby lines and bottleneck areas.

More people doing more variety of things -- canoes and train and monorail.

When small world and nemo return that'll suck up several thousand an hour.

Counter service foods much improved and wait times back to precovid times. Food festival was humming along fine. Did have a lower quality IMHO compared to years' past. The reimagined wellington was especially disappointing.

No such thing. After all, they are the ones that determine how many reservations are available.

Not sure that would be true. I have been working from the assumption that, at some point in the future, they will have reservations available be at the level of full capacity. If they were to do that, then they could use reservation numbers to plan for staffing, using some attendance assumption as the starting point for staffing levels. It sounds like you are assuming the opposite, that they set reservation caps based on staffing levels. It seems like doing this would potentially limit their earnings.

What you says could still end up being true, but as someone said in an earlier post, only Disney knows how they are operating.

I would consistently check because I was able to get same day reservations for Disneyland yesterday, and last night they did have reservations for today. It's just being consistent with checking, I was able to get a reservation for the 26th of December a few days ago. I'm hoping to be able to get another reservation for this coming weekend.

Yep! That's pretty much how I've gotten all of my last minute trips in, check late night before (since cancellation time is 11:59pm)

If any trips with friends or planned out then I make sure to book at least a month in advance.

Do you have a Magic Key?

We canceled ours last night for today. Couldn't get up there - stinks as missed candlelight :(

Just saw DL start for the 9th and 10th this week. Rain is expected this week, so should be a lot more cancellations coming.

They just opened up Dec 8-14 to tickets and Dec 8-31 to magic keys.

Catching up after a Disney hiatus since June. I have reservations starting January 1. Not a magic key holder and staying off property. Does this mean it’s possible more reservations may open for Ticket holders for Dec 30-31?
