Wheres everyone at:confused3

Well as you may have noticed I have posted a few questions this week, sometimes it is amazing how there can be so many opinionated posters and then at other times it seems impossible to get a response.

One question I had was--would we have enough time to go to DTD after the cruise, our plane leaves at 2:30. I would really like to stop at DTD but the time worries me and more than anything I don't know what we would do with our luggage.

Have you ever done the airport luggage check in at Port? How does this work.

2nd--if we book a room at comfort suites and by chance the ship cannot dock at Nassau--that seems like alot of money to lose out on. How have you handled this and booked your room through. I really don't know if I want to do Atlantis or just have a more layed back day.

Hurray I figured out how to post pictures this week, if you haven't done this yet you really should, it was alot of fun to be able to share pics!!

And finally, I am doing pretty good about keeping our cruise a secret from the kids, but those vulnerable moments really have me biting my lip:3dglasses

I have been working!!! My DH has signed off on a pretty big contract this week. We are strategising(?)! Cant decide whether to hire more on or tuff it out. We think we may do some sub contracting. The thing is when you hire more on that is that many more families you have to worry about long term. This is the most stressful part to me of Williams business. All of mine is sub contracting.

I get travel insurance and I believe that canceling Atlantis due to not being able to port should be covered. I guess I should check. However, I dont think it would change my mind. It may just make my DH feel better to know he didnt throw the money overboard!!!! We are very excited about Atlantis. I reeeaaallllyyyyy want to do the dolphins. I am going to see how their prices pan out.

I am married to a fanatic about being early or at least on time. He would never risk DTD in between. We had a 4:00 flight last time and waited what seemed like 4 days. I am trying to talk him into a 12:30 flight home and he is freaking out. You know all the what ifs!

I will check back in a little later!!! We are going out of town this weekend to a car show in Nashville. There are no good concerts for Christie and I so we will just go to the mall and stuff like that. All relaxed fun this weekend.

Hi everyone

Sure is a rainy day here in Ft. Lauderdale. But I'm not complaining. We need it so very badly. good for curiling up in bed and reading a book.

MinnieoTM: Have a good time in Nashville. I have some very close friends in Nashville. They own two flower shops there. The name of the florist is Flower Express. I used to visit them a few times a year but haven't been there for a while now. I miss going there.

princesdi: I wouldn't chance DTD if your flight leaves at 2:30. That ais pushing it a little bit. If your flight was later, you probably could do it.

Glad you know how to post pics now. Once you get the hang of it, it does seem easy. LOL

I'll be going to WDW in about 3 weeks to meet up with some friends from IN. We are staying at VWL. I love that place.

Then I have a B2B cruise the end of October.

Does anyone have a cruise planned before our December cruise?

I am thinking about doing a little Navigator for our group. But I would need some information from everyone. Of course, it could be done by PM's.

I have done several or other cruises and it has worked out real well.

We can also plan a little get together during the sail away party.

We have a little time to think about it.

I'll take all comments from anyone
.

Is this a private thread or can anyone butt in? I was looking around for people going on the 12/9/07 cruise and bumped into you guys. My friend and I are doing the land and sea (3 nights at POFQ and then 4 night cruise). We are so excited! :woohoo: Been to Disney tons of times but not on the cruise boat yet, so we are psyched! We are 2 adult women, traveling without husbands or kids. We are doing this instead of our usual Christmas shopping weekend. Sorry people, no gifts for you this year! :rotfl2: We both love Disney, scrapbooking, traveling and people watching. Maybe we will see you on board, we will be the two hicks that you see walking around with our mouths open gawking at everything!:cool1:

Hi and "WELCOME"

This is definitely not a private thread. We are glad to have someone else join in with us.

We are just getting to know each other, as well.

How long have you had the cruise booked???

For me, it will be myself and my DD and g/baby, who will be a year at cruisin' time. It will be my DD's first Disney Cruise but she has been on many others. She used to be a TA - so she knows the business better than me.

We will be in Room 8102. Our room is right below the Buffet and we can throw food down on our balcony :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

If you have any input on the cruise or want to know something, please post for us and someone will gladly chime in with some response

Thanks for the reply. I am totally new to this board, but I find it addicting. I like reading the trip reports and learning all the tips!

We booked our cruise in January, so it's been a long wait. It seems a little closer to me now than it did in the dead of a long, cold, winter.

I don't know what cabin we will end up as we booked a cat. 12 guarantee. We will be in the bowels of the ship somewhere!:lmao:

We are really looking forward to our vacation and the whole cruise experience!

Welcome lakefairy! Glad you'll be joining us in December! I had to chuckle at your comment about being the ones who are gawking - I'm quite sure that my crew will be doing the same. I CAN'T WAIT!

geesh is it hot yet!!! I love summer but I really could pass on these HOT days. Nebraska--the sandhills to be exact, is in desperate need of rain!!! Can't keep the lawn and garden watered fast enough!

Anyway, as you know 2 weeks ago my grandfather passed away. We spent the weekend at his home going through things. The lesson I learned is that I will not leave my kids to have to sort through tons of stuff when my time comes. It is such a huge undertaking for the family on top of all the emotions everyone is trying to deal with. Death is a hard thing to deal with, but what comes afterwards is just as difficult. My husband and I agreed, "our kids will not have to burden over sorting through mounds of papers, closets etc". Keep things in order and do not collect "stuff".

So after spending all weekend with my family, the kids had fun swimming with their cousins and running around the ranch. My oldest came up with a brillant idea "lets all go on a family cruise!". Yep that sounds like fun, just as long as we each had our own stateroom:lmao: But the financial means of my siblings may be difficult for them to afford a trip--was a great idea though. I am the giver of the family so the notion did cross my mind to pay for their cruise and leave the other expenses up to them, but then that would set me back. I just think it would be a great time to heal from alot of family things that have gone on the past 2 years.

Have any of you taken an all family cruise??? I even thought about paying for my neice and nephew to go with, but I think as a parent that would upset me if I did not have the means to take my own child and then someone else does.

BUT, since my daughter was on the topic I told her about the new Atlantis waterpark, she said that she thinks if we were to ever go on another cruise:rolleyes1 she would spend more time on the ship. I am torn about doing an excursion, we need to make up our minds. Last year we snorkeling, parasailed, bannana boats--we did it once and that was enough. Last year we were at WDW for 4 days and then on DCL 3--we really filled up all our time and were exhausted--in a way it would be nice to just "RELAX".

Well wanted to drop in and tell everyone to have a fantastic week and a happy 4th!!!!

princesdi:

I know what you mean. My DH just passed in late March and it is very hard. I tried to take care of some impt. matters the six months before, but still you are not prepared.

And, yes, "stuff" is horrid. I, myself, am trying to eliminate what I have to a large degree. But it is very difficult.

Glad you are joining the cruise and I CAN'T WAIT........... IS IT TIME YET?????

CRSNDSNY - Where are you? Have you had that precious baby? I cant help but wander! I know my DH would not know how to post. She could be working on the nursery...its just been a while. We want to know all about the bundle of joy when it happens. I would also like you to PM your address.

I almost forgot HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY
Today we eat too much, swim and have fun with family and friends. It is always a good time to remember out troops. Everyone have a great day.

PrincessDi - Having such a big family I have never had that task when a family member has passed. I cant imagine the toll it took on you. However, When Williams Grandmother past away (he has hardly any family...most have passed..he has one sister to my five siblings!)we did have to clean her house out. We bought green tote boxes and labeled them with names and when we ran acrosss pictures and such put them in the right boxes and shipped them to next closest family member. She had a will and that was a huge help. We donated clothes and furniture to charitys. Books and such to schools and etc. It took us months as we didnt work on it every day. We would get burned out. I hope you are able to enjoy your holiday and relax a little.

Atlantis isssues.....I am going to book. I am waiting until August to see if any better deal comes out. I am watching for some prices on the dolphin encounter and swim from Atlantis. They are sending me a brochure....prices are avilable yet for the swim.

Welcome lakefairy!!!:cheer2: :welcome: We were the gawking hicks last year!!

The childrens place had the cutest clothes for "little girls" this week. Their clearance is 30% off the lowest price. I got Christie some jeans for $6.99.
She is in between sizes at the limited too....so we went down to childrens place and was tickled with our bargain. We both love a good sale!!

We have been the sponsor of the biggest race at our track for the past three years. This year the "Fifth Annual Dynamic Electric Firecracker Shootout" will be Saturday. It is a race that pulls in racers from about four states this year. We are very excited. Howard is a little anxious as this will be his first year at this race as the youngest racer in his class. His class is 10-13 year olds. Most racers in this class average 12 years old. I know he will do his best...I just hope it is good enough for him. It is a little different than racing the dirt and placing third, that dont bother him. The fact that he mainly races asphalt and it is our home track and our company name is all over everything he puts pressure on himself that he shouldnt. I pray for him everyday to have peace with this situation because he like "sikes" himself out and I am not sure he hears me. He takes racing soooooooooooo serious. If you believe in prayer and have time please say a special one for my little man Saturday not that he wins but simply for peace.

I am a little unsure on our early dinner seating. Last time we had late. It was nice for having to get dressed but it seemed like we missed things because of it. Any thoughts from anyone?

QUESTION FOR EVERYONE:

Would anyone like to link up for dining?????

Karen and I are early.

If anyone has early and wants to link up and eat together, let me know and I'll get the information and do it for us.

I have done this in the past and it has been lots of fun.

I ate late only once about a year ago. Didn't like it at all. Many times we didn't get out of the dining room until 10:30 and that was way too late for us.

Being early, we can go to the show at 8:30 and be finished by 9:30 and still do a few things.

We eat early at home too, so that makes a big difference.

I know some people eat late at home due to jobs and other activities.

I am just a little unsure about our dining. When I get time I am going to look up some navigators and study them and try to figure something out.

I still need to figure out my transportation round trip. I just dont want that part to be a flop by choosing the wrong company. I want to get to the ship early this time and not feel rushed around. Instead of waiting not so patiently at the resort to leave!

I am still waiting for a good deal on airfare. It might not happen. They havent gone up but they arent coming down either. Right now they are about $100.00 cheaper per person than last year.

When the children get back in school, I will start getting excited again. We have so much going on between now and the first of November it is unreal. One very important highlight is Talledega in October!!!!! Not to overshadow Howards National race in Neece, SC at all!!!!! November first I will take a deep breath and dream of Disney!!!!!!!!

Crystal27 is your little girl even old enough to be excited yet?
I wouldnt take anything for our first trip to Disney. They were in just complete AWE. You would have thought we gave them the moon when Howard met Woody and Christie met Belle. Christies was even more special because it was our first night and on stage. They still love it...and its special but there is something about those "first" that I always cling to.

Kay, we opted for early dining, and would love to hook up!

Minnie2 - maybe DH will run into you guys at Talledega - he goes every year and says its his very favorite sporting event (and he's been to a Super Bowl so that tells you something - LOL). Also, my DD is so excited. She doesn't understand about the December timeframe, but she asks every day about swimming with dolphins and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. I really can't wait to experience this "first" with her - it's just going to be magic!

You guys will have to cross your cyber fingers for me this weekend. We are hoping to buy a land lot within the next month in a wonderful lake/golf community in the Georgia mountains. Hopefully we'll find the *perfect* lot this weekend and hopefully we'll have built our house by this time next year. Anyway, I sure hope everyone has a great weekend. :yay:

:yay:

sent you a PM

If anyone else wants to link up dining, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

There will be three for me - me, my DD and her baby who will be 1 yo

If there are too many to sit at one table, they will sit us at the tables next to each other. Not a problem

Crystal27 _ I am very excited for you. Being a general contractor, we have moved six times. It is fun to me because if I dont like what I pick out...Oh well ...we will be moving in 2 or 3 years!!!! The children are fine with it too. The move to Memphis has been the worst for all of us. We are used to new stuff and the house we are renovating while we live in it is 100 years old!!! The land search is always on for us and we totally enjoy it. Good Luck and I have my cyber fingers crossed for you!!!

Hey all... I haven't posted to this thread in months... it's been kinda crazy around here between work and family life. Kay, I felt so much for you when I read that your DH had passed away. Little did I realize that I too would be widowed last month. We had been separated but we still had almost twenty years together! I feel the worst for my DS though... he's only known a mom fighting cancer since he was in kindergarten and now his dad is gone. I just pray that God is grooming him for something wonderful in the future. That said, life goes on and I'm trying to make the best of the summer... my DS, of course, is looking forward to our cruise (as am I).

Kay, hoping you're feeling better after your misstep in Hawaii.

Crsndisney, have you had the baby? How are you doing?

PrincessDi, sorry about the loss of your grandfather. My DH didn't have a will either and it's definitely left things a huge mess. On Tuesday, my DB and I had "that talk" with my DM as she is getting on in years and not in the best of health.

MoTM, I'm so impressed hearing about your DS's racing. I'm sure my DS will be duly impressed as well (he's 11 going on 12 in November and into computer games more than anything else but a really friendly kid).

Someone mentioned that their mom broke her leg and had been in the hospital. How is she doing?

We usually go to WDW at least once a year, but I think that this year we'll be limited to the cruise due to my treatment schedule. We already cancelled our trip this past May for that reason. My October trip is more work than vacation and I'm not even sure that I'm taking DS with me. At this point, I'm planning on us arriving the day before. Haven't decided if we'll stay in Orlando (our home resort is VWL too, Kay) or go directly out to port. Upon our return, I'll either have to return to NY for treatment on Friday or if I don't, I'd love to visit the KSC (my dad worked on the space program and it's been a dream of mine to go there). I'll have to plan a nice trip for next year.

On our last cruise, we pretty much stayed on the ship when in Nassau. This year, I'd like to cab over to Atlantis because I think that DS would really enjoy the aquarium there. Anyone have input on visiting them?

We also have early dining... hope to see you there! Would someone like to go for tea or brunch at Palo?

Do you want to be linked up with some of us??? Let me know an I'll PM you.

Yes, my DD and I definitely will be doing Palo Brunch. I never miss that. The best ever.

ElenitaB - I am so sorry for your loss. I will pray for your son daily. I cant imagine losing my Dad at 11. I often feel I was slighted losing my Dad at 36. My heart aches for him bless his heart. Howard will love to meet him. Howard is very outgoing as is Christie. This is a surprise trip for them so they wont know until we leave!!!

My Mom is doing well.

Still wandering if there is a new bundle of joy that has arrived.

Princessdi How is your planning going?

Kay - Are you packing for your next cruise? You should keep a cruise bag packed!!!!!!

Crystal27 let us know about your land search!!

Our big race is TODAY!!! I better get to bed! At practice tonight we had a few right there with us timewise. Howard is really going to have to work for this one.
