Princessdi - What started out as "for fun" $1500.00 kart quickly turned into a $4,000.00 kart because I was being suckered by DH and DS! I wouldnt let him race the first one they brought home because it was an open kart. It is designed to throw you from it in case of a wreck. (which I have seen too many)They then bought the other kart. It is called a champ Kart. It has a roll bar, you are five point harnessed in, you have head support, you have neck brace, arm restraints, gloves, fire retardent suit and rib protector. This is not saying you cant get hurt because you can. A friend went off the track and cleared the fence and came straight down and got a compound fracture in his back. Needless to say we are two years into it with three karts, trailer, the whole ball of wax!! He is expecting to move to 250 mini sprints next summer. It is alot of fun. We race every other weekend and sometimes more. He raced bmx before that. He is a motorhead like his dad. He has always had fourwheelers but never wanted to race them. He has a dirt bike but that is a huge NO from me. He will not race them as long as he is in my house. He did go to a camp last year for a week with his dirt bike and broke his wrist the first full day. They thought it was a sprang. He rode with it broke for a week and never complained. He told the doctor he would continue to race to please dont put a cast on. He had to wear one for eight weeks and he raced with it. He has a deep passion for it. Great family time as we all love racing. It is a great sport. We only have one asphalt track in our area and a few dirt tracks. He races primarily on asphalt. That is why he wanted to run this series because it is dirt. Not bragging
but he has been the champion at our asphalt track since he started. He has set many track records. Dirt is new to him but he is doing great. I would first see if you have any nearby tracks. Where are you from?
