December 5 Parade taping

Last year was my first time being in the MK during the taping and I found it to be a rather bad experience. It was extremely crowded and very difficult to get down main street. CMs ushered us through detour routes behind the backs of the buildings, which is a very effective way to kill the magic. But my experience was really soured on a personal level when a guy rubbernecking to see the parade while walking in the opposite direction SLAMMED into me, knocked my brand new camera to the ground (which broke it!) and wouldn't even apologize. So, yeah, some of you may have a fun experience there that day but for me, never again!

we 're supposed to be eating breakfast at 8:10 at CRT on 12/5. is that going to be crazy? any tips on getting there, etc. ? i guess we'll just leave the hotel extra early.

Okay- let me get this straight... They PAY people to watch the parade???!!!!
I want that job. I wouldn't even have to act excited. My family would be there - matching outfits and all - with bells on !!!

ATTENTION: Anyone from Disney that may or may not be finding people to "cast" as the role of super-excited family of the year watching the greatest parade in the history of parades, my family is very cute and -did I mention - we will be wearing matching outfits. All it will cost would be a few free nights at resort and theme park admission tickets. We come cheap!!!

Do you need tickets to attend the parade on the 5th? I volunteer for Make A Wish Foundation and we're sending a family to WDW that week. I told them I didn't think you need tickets to see the filming of the parade; just the regular admission ticket gets you into the park. Is that incorrect?

Ok, now that I know that taping day is 12/5, I have a small problem... We have dining ressies at Crystal Palace at 8:15 (we were planning on arriving by 8AM). Will this be a problem, or an advantage?

Also, we have friends in the area, and we were hoping to spend the day with them at MK. Will they be able to get in the park, or will it sell out? Since it sounds like ride waits will be light, I would hope the average Joe can still get in.

1- Arrive by 7:45AM, or so. You'll be fine.
2- Yes.
3- No.
4- No problem.

1) Yes.
2) Especially children as Extras.
3) They go to the local talent agencies and pay lots of child actors.
4) In fact, MOST of the "families" you see on TV are paid actors or CM's.
5) On the employee hub, there are job postings for both days
. . . plain-clothes CM's as parade viewers
. . . plain-clothes CM's as audience for performers
. . . costumed CM's for crowd control
6) As for folks you see on TV,
. . . the ones speaking as families on camera are real families
. . . the ones the cameras just pan or highlight are usually paid people
. . . in the past, some "special gestures" made it past the censors
. . . Disney got lots of calls from people watching the parade on TV
. . . this stops that from happening

NOTE: My grandkids were down once, and we got them in as paid audience members during the parade filming. We had to go through the talent agency, but the kids did make it onto national TV.
