December 4,2004 !!!

MIL has a tumor near her spine. They are going to attempt to remove it next Friday. There are risks with the location & if there are multiple tumors around the spine, the will not do anything. Things are going to be pretty busy around her so I probably will not be checking in for a couple weeks.

We will all be praying for her - and for your continued strength and hope.

Rae

Best of luck, Lisa. Hope all goes well and I'll say a prayer.......

Thanks. My MIL had surgery Friday and they were able to remove a tumor the size of a lemon. Another couple weeks and that may not have been the case since it was so close to her spine & the doctor had to be very careful to avoid the arteries right next to it. She is still recovering in the hospital and will start chemo in another week or so. We are very relieved but exhausted from a long weekend.

Lisa - prayers for MIL and your entire family. Take care and know she will be in good hands while recovering!

Also, we will NOT be going on the December 4th cruise - but I want to wish everyone a wonderful time and God's blessings for health, and happiness!!

Rae

Lisa, glad to hear things are O.K.. Our prayers are with you and your family.
I haven't been here much, but what is this with everyone abandining ship?? LOL! I saw a western trip reportand I am starting to get that "itch" pretty bad. I was trying to get a sailing for last Sunday (April 4) about 3 weeks ago but it was booked. Southwest has a DCL fly and sail package they are experimenting with. Dw and DDs are in southern Indiana (Mitchell....Spring Mill State Park) this week instead (camping). I'll be heading down Thurs. and we will return Monday. Yes, another holiday away from family.....anyone see a pattern?? LOL

We have had major family issues to deal with here for the past 2 months so really no time to think about anything else. Right now we are trying to book MIL & FIL to go with us. We will be paying for some since they wont let us pay for all, but we need to keep the total cost quiet or they will never go. It is far fetched anyway to expect them to end up on deck...but we can work on it. MIL will be finished with her chemo by then & hopefully feeling much better than last time. It will be worth it to me for the kids to have those memories with them on the trip.

Sorry I have not been around, I have been preoccupied. Lisa I am so sorry for your family illness, my thoughts are with you. Rae my dear friend as I said privately I will miss ya but you will be there in spirit with me with each konk kooler :)
I am having a hard time getting revved up for this trip, maybe in a few months, just wanted to check in though and tell Lisa my thoughts are with her.

Is it true???? Is Rae on the 4/17 sailing?? I haven't been here in so long that I forgot about that sailing. Hope all is good with everyone. DW wasn't all that excited when I booked the 10 nighter. After all we had just returned from our 11/30 Eastern. But now she is starting to get reved up about this sailing. She saw something on the travel channel about Key West and got excited. Look 228 days!!!!:hyper:

Well, after a couple rough months MIL is starting her chemo next week. I have been shopping for the best rate possible & found one that is great so I am putting the deposit down for them tomorrow. I called & told MIL tonight & the first thing she said was how much do we owe you? LOL! She didn't say a single thing about not wanting to go. Of course we don't know how her chemo will go or how long or if they will do radiation during or after but I told her not to worry about that now. I am getting insurance for them too so we won't have to think about it. At least we will have an affordable option to look at when the time gets closer. If she isn't able to go for legitimate reasons then we wont be upset with her of course. When I explained the situation to the TA she ordered a medical waiver form from DCL so that she can have them put in early seating with us instead of being late seating & being waitlisted & having to deal with that after we board. Everything is clicking right now so I told DH that we HAVE to do this now. The price will be more than what we paid for the 4 of us in a few months.

Lisa:

Thank you for the invite to participate in this thread. I am going to print out all the pages to read so I can get up to speed.

We booked this cruise last June at the 80 week mark so we are quite happy to be at 29 weeks!!! My children have major "Disney Withdrawals" since we usually go every May, but put it off until December so we could do the Christmas Party at WDW and the cruise together.

We will be going with my brother, his wife, their DS10 and DD7. Our two children are DD6 and DS5.

Looking forward to reading the post and getting to know all of you that will be sailing on the 4th.

Thanks! That was one picture I was determined to get. :) The portholes on deck 3 outside of Parrot Cay are perfect for some great shots. I also got one of DS looking at the swells one morning. They were over 15 feet at a couple points on our cruise.

:( :( Bad news guys...........looks like I have to switch sailing dates:( DD Jessica is going to be a freshman next year and is taking college prep classes. It looks like that week is 10 days before mid terms.:( We talked to her guidence counselor and she recomended we go a different time. She said it is tough to get caught up a week before finals with 5 days off. It looks like we are going to switch to the Thanksgiving Western..........2 days at CC:bounce: :bounce:

Sorry to hear that!!! I can understand that you need to take more into account when they get that age though. I figure that we need to do this every year while the kids are young & it doesn't affect school as much. DS will be in Kindergarten in the fall but the school has a wonderful attitude about family vacations being learning opportunities. :)

Hi Group(well, those who are left anyway)
and
Hi to the newbies(Gloria)

Haven't posted in a while...things have been rather rough around here...nothing we couldn't handle...just rough.

We bought another vacation home in ORL and are having quite a time getting that "habitable"....we almost had to gut it and start over....but I got to pick new appliances, light fixtures, celing fans, etc. etc......

At the end of March I had cancer surgery. I had a small place on the bridge of my nose that looked like a zit that had sunk in. They did a biopsy and it was the second stage cancer. So they
did what they call MOHS surgery(that stands for something..not sure what at the moment). But it's where they cut the tissue and then look at it under the microscope...and when there are no more c cells...they stop. They did mine 3 times. Each time before the cutting, and when they cauterized the blood vessels...I got at least 10-15 shots in my face and they did this 3 times, so that was 6 times with shots!!! Dummy me thought Doc would go deep instead he went wide. DH said when Doc got done, I had a place the size of a nickel cut out of my nose. I never saw it -
THANK GOD....anyway....then the stitched up my nose....I had 22 stitches and more shots!!!! A week later they took the stitches out....DH is a pharmacist...he had called the Doc's office and said the stitches are not ready to come out...but they took them out
anyway.....even though I had steri strips on it....by Saturday the incision had started to separate!!!!!!!!!!! I was in the Doc's office every other day for a month...it is now healing...but everyone is calling me "SCAR"....I was so scary looking that my own dog wouldn't have anything to do with me!!! She was a hoot...looking at me out of the corner of her eye.

Two weeks ago DH had a car accident and just today we decided not to get our car fixed and he bought another one...that was very traumatic for us. No one was hurt....some JA pulled in front of him and stopped...and Jim couldn't stop in time and hit him in the rear end...of course Jim was sited for not having control of the car...the other guy walked away scot free, not a bit of damage or anything...and we have to get another car!!!!!

That same night....our dog....pulled me down the front steps of our house and I got cut up and bruised and scraped and also a
sprained wrist...which is now in a brace. I'm just now able to type and have been typing at work with two fingers on my left hand....that has really been fun too............

So that's why I haven't been around.....

Sorry to see Lampy change dates and welcome Gloria....I love people from New York...can't wait to meet you.....Ann my love, I think about you a lot and Lisa...hope things work out with your MIL and they can come on the cruise with you...Rae if you are still reading....glad you had a great April cruise.....

Well, I've bored y'all long enough. And I have to go to one of the fire stations and measure some of the guys for color guard uniforms....I have such a fun job...........lol

Later

Everyone hang in there.....................

OH the car dh bought is a BMW Convertible........needless to say...I was NOT with him when he bought it.................lol
he thinks he will look really cool cruisin' the streets in Hilton Head with a pre teen age drama queen, a BBW wife and big deer dog..............riding with him............lol
