December 30 2014 - Wonder from Miami

We just booked this cruise. It is our first time sailing on NYE. Very exciting!

Welcome to the group!! We are doing NYE this year so I can't wait to find out how it works and come back and share with everyone!

Just booked this cruise for me and my sister. Also traveling with us will be my niece, her daughter, and my niece's friend and her daughter.

Hi,
We just switched cruises from the December 27th sailing of the Fantasy to the December 30th sailing of the Wonder. Looking forward to meeting you all!!

Just a heads up to all of our Canadian cruisers.
Thanks to the Canadian dollar taking a plunge in value, it will end up costing more to purchase anything in US funds. This includes our cruise coming up.
There is never any way of knowing when the Canadian dollar will go back up or what it will go up to when it does.
Because of this, I was fortunate to be able to pay the remainder of the cruise off for our family, last evening - in order to save any additional exchange rate.
I wanted to be able to give you all a tip that if you are able to... it may be a good idea in order to save yourselves some unnecessary wasted money.
Good luck everyone!

Here's a link for everyone that I found on the DIS boards to past Navigators.
Unfortunately there wasn't any past navigators for our cruise from 2013 but I found a 5 nighter from 2012. It should give everyone a bit of a taste of what to look forward to.

Scroll down to 2012 and you should be able to see a post from December 28, 2012 for the 5 Night Bahamas Double Dip.

Now although it says Double Dip, the navigators shown are just for the Bahamian cruise.

I have decided not to make any more payments on this cruise for now. We might have to cancel. I didn't really think things through. As much as I would love to start the tradition of NYE on DCL, my daughter plays basketball games and she could have a game on 2 of the days of this cruise. Hoping I will see a basketball schedule before the Pay in Full Date.

Awwww Kimberly, that's not very good news :(
I also hope you can get your hands on that calendar for your daughters games and Im hoping it will all work out .

Yea. Looking at this year's calendar, there will be no choice but to cancel so it would take a miracle. I'm looking to see if I could move it to something between the time school gets out and Christmas if there aren't any games (there weren't this year), but that starts getting tough as I want to be home on Christmas.

We just stepped of the Fantasy and booked this cruise for New Ears 2015! We can't wait! Nice to Meet all of you!

Please sign us up for the FEs as well. We are a family of 3, and can't wait to meet everybody!

Always wanted to do a cruise for New Years! Does anyone know of any special things they do just for NYE?

Hi Everyone!

Ntheodore426 - Are you already booked to come on this New Years Eve Cruise?

We are also extremely excited about the NYE cruise. What could be better than being on DCL and watching the fireworks and partying with the Mouse himself!

Wahoooooo!!!!

What an awesome group we have managed to produce and a nice sized FE list as well.
Is anybody else coming on the cruise who has yet to find our group or FE list?
Please let me know!

Has anyone confirmed that there is no formal night on this cruise, rather only a semi-formal night? That's what seems to be the case on 5 night cruises, but wasn't sure whether they would change it for a NYE cruise. Thanks!

When I called DCL I was told that NYE would be the formal night on this cruise. That being said, it appears that many people are being told different things by different representatives on the DCL phone line. Frustrating that we all can't be told the same thing.
We are going to go on the cruise with the expectations of formal night on NYE at this point.

We are on this cruise as well.

Going back and forth on if we should cancel since the flights were crazy and our dollar falling. But that is what happens when you have two teenage kids that really can't miss high school. I miss going on the off times and could take them out.

We have never been on the Wonder but have done many on the Magic as well as been on the Dream and Fantasy . Be strange to go back to the smaller ship. The oldest one well miss the Vibe's big area on the Fantasy.

As for having a formal night...being NYE I'm sure it will be dressy but was hoping to bring less clothes and shoes for a 5 day cruise.

NAB,
Here is the schedule/itinerary given by DCL for this cruise....

DECEMBER 30 - At Sea (Cruise Casual Wear)
DECEMBER 31 - Castaway Cay (NYE Formal Night, with Fireworks)
JANUARY 1 - Nassau (Pirates Night, No Fireworks unless rain Dec 31)
JANUARY 2 - At Sea (Cruise Casual Wear)
JANUARY 3 - Key West (Cruise Casual Wear)
JANUARY 4 - Disembark ( )

Hoping that will help you in determining the clothing situation you were talking about.

That being said, you had also said that you weren't sure if you would end up cruising or not (for a couple of different reasons).... the Paid in Full date was October 16th, so I'm wondering if you ended up paying in full or not?

Or is this a today decision (Oct 17th), and you are second guessing it?

No we paid in full yesterday. But all week we were going back and forth even thinking of driving instead of flying. We also have a cruise booked for March Break same deal...that one might be cancelled. What is stopping us is our son is 17 going to 18 in May so after that he will no longer be able to do the Vibe which he loves.

My husband still hates the idea of carrying all our dress clothes. We have done it on all our cruises though , so to me it isn't a big deal. We did have a flight that we had to pay for bags but have since changed that and do not have to pay for our first bag.

Looking forward to this cruise. If anyone interested in dining rotation, looks to be APPTA and would then assume the rest are PTTAP and TAAPT. I called today, so I could coordinate a Palo reservation.

My documents came in the mail today! :cool1:

It says Very Merrytime Cruise on the front. Glad the decorations will still be up but most of the merrytime stuff really will be over by the time we get on I think. Santa will definitely be gone. :lmao:
