December 23, 2009 ~ Christmas on the Wonder!

:santa:

Hiya

My husband has just booked us on the Wonder for the christmas sailing on 23rd. This will be our 4th cruise, so we are looking forward to it being a very special cruise as it is over the holidays.

We are DW DH and DD(14) so it should be fun.

I've noticed that there's a previous post from an English family too, so there will be some other brits on the cruise. All our friends think we are mad going on a cruise for Christmas, they think we should be staying at home with the freezing cold snow of the North of Scotland..... don't think so..... give me DCL and castaway cay on boxing day any time :cool1:

Oooh Scotland! Another place I love!!! I don't blame you...I'd rather be someplace warm than some place cold any day!!!

Just signed up this morning for this cruise. :santa: I am particularly excited because the Wonder will be fresh out of dry dock by only a few weeks, with new carpets, etc., and may even have the new addition of the upstairs viewing area above cove cafe that they are adding for Alaska. I guess we will have to wait and see if that is done during this dry dock or later, but wouldn't it be great? Probably won't do fish extenders, but look forward to sailing with you all.

:wizard:To prepare for the Alaska sailings, a brand-new venue called Outlook Cafe will be added to the Disney Wonder during dry dock in October. Located high atop deck 10, the 2,500-square-foot Outlook Cafe is a stylish retreat for guests to relax and enjoy a beverage or cocktail as they peer out through floor-to-ceiling, curved glass windows at breathtaking vistas. The design of Outlook Cafe is sophisticated with contemporary Art Deco inspiration. An elegant spiral staircase connects Outlook Cafe with the existing Cove Cafe one deck below. The 65-seat lounge has a granite-topped cocktail bar with comfortable seating throughout the space, all providing picture-perfect views of the surrounding landscapes.

Found this on 3 different travel websites, so I guess this will be completed for our cruise! I can most definitely see bringing my mocha up those stairs to sit and watch the sunrise on Christmas morning!:dance3:

Welcome aboard!:santa:

We'll be on the first cruise out of dry dock- I plan on taking pics and posting the updates!

Oooh, that new cafe sounds like it'll be sooooo nice!! How fun for us to get to be on the boat when it's all fresh!!!

I just read about someone who brought Christmas lights for their room!! I am so there!!!

Christmas lights
power strips
3M tape hook things...

Yippee! We can start getting excited now--our cruise is getting closer! I hope more people sign up to do fish extenders--that will make it even more fun! I am already thinking of ideas!

I know!! Just less than 3 weeks and I can book excursions!! Guess I should start deciding exactly what I want to do!!

I got your PM and added you to the Fish Extender list. So far we are at 5 cabins.

If anyone else wants to join the FE exchange send me a PM and let me know!

We're getting very excited. We'll be on the Oct 18 cruise right out of drydock and I'll try to get some pictures of the new stuff and post them!

What do you guys think about the weather down there in Dec? I know in Florida it's still fairly nice until about Jan...but I'm not about to jump in the ocean in Dec in Florida either. BUT...they are further south...

I'd really like to do one of the snorkeling things further offshore at Castaway Cay. ...I'm worried that it'll just be throwing money away if it turns out its freezing the day we're there?? Any thoughts??

Is anyone planning on dressing up for Pirate night??

I'd like to but I know I'll have to wait until I get back to the states (Dec 15!!) before I can get a costume and that May be cutting it a bit close. I did google Party City and it looks like there are at least a couple in Little Rock so that's good.

We are planning to dress up for Pirate Night--don't most people?? I hope so! Now is a great time to get a costume because of Halloween, but there are probably lots on sale in early November.

I don't know about the weather--we are wondering about it too---I get cold easily and don't want to freeze during an expensive excursion!

No worry about freezing fin Nassau folks... the only snow will be the fake variety produced by Disney...

We picked up some new swimsuits (red of corse) and are customizing for the Christmas Cruise :thumbsup2

Lol, I don't know! It'll be our first time! But I'm glad to hear that - now I really need to make sure I find a costume!! I wish I could get one during the after Halloween sales...but they don't have those here in Kuwait! So...I have to wait until I get back to the states mid Dec and cross my fingers I can get a good costume, and everything else I need! EEk!!

Glad to hear it! Temps like that...the water should still be nice enough! My snorkel set arrived yesterday and I had my DH open it to check it out. Now he's just waiting on his!! Next paycheck I think I'm going to go ahead and order my new camera though I need him to do some research on memory cards to see if it would be better to buy them seperately or in a "kit".

Awe!! That is Too cute!!! You'll have to share pictures when you're done!!!

I'll be signing up - as soon as I have 10 posts and can send PMs. I can't wait and have already bought a few "gifts"

Oooh where in England are you from??? My mom was stationed there when I was in High School so I got to spend a few years and I LOVED it. In fact, we spend Last Christmas in London!! I wanted to go again this year...but figured we should save up a biiitttt more since this time my husband will be with us (and not deployed!!).

I read that you can also send One box to your stateroom ahead of time. I'm not sure what the dimensions can be, but that's an option too!

Hi, we are from Sheffield, where the weather at christmas is usually wet, cold, grey and miserable. So why are we going on a Disney cruise for christmas? beats me!
Julie

Welcome aboard!!!!

If you plan on doing the Fish Extender Exchange PM me with the following please-

-Screen name
-Cabin number
-Number of Adults
-Number of Children with ages in ()
-If you are roommates with someone else who is doing the exchange with their own gift (you then would be considered 2 different groups)
-If there are any allergies (ie nuts, cinnamon, etc in case someone wants to give food)

We can set a cut off date if that helps. Say Dec 1? I'm pretty sure we'll have a almost firm count well before then, but you never know.

Thanks!

I should have included the above quote when saying I'll be signing up. Can you tell I am new to this? Never mind this must be my 4th post now only another 6 to go and I can sign up for the fish extender exchange - yeh!!

Lol, the weather certainly isn't the best there at Christmas. BUT...It sure is beautiful!! I think it'll be nice to be "tropical" this year though!
