Hi!

Looking for an SUV rental from Orlando international. Any codes? Discounts? Specials? Thanks!

Way too early to be looking. You can book something now and continue looking. Rates should go down as you get closer to your travel dates.

Rental car deals won't come out until 2-6 weeks before your trip. I would suggest joining National's Emerald Club. You can pick any car in Emerald Aisle. Last year we picked out a small chevy SUV for the price of a mid-size. There were also vans and larger SUVs in the Emerald Aisle though, its a good deal :thumbsup2

We are travelling in December 2013, too, and I probably won't even make my initial ressie until August (which I'm sure I will cancel as the prices go lower). It's way too early to get deals - rental car reservations don't work that way.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I'm unfamiliar with the rental process. Can someone give me an idea of a good price for a SUV (jeep grand Cherokee size) for a week?
Do I make a reservation and cancel or hold off all together?
Thank you VERY much!

Does it cost anything? Thank you!

I think the timing may depend on the location and dates. I always book my car rental as soon as I know my dates / rough times. There is no downside since there is no penalty to cancel. I check often for rate changes (and continue to shop around at other rental agencies) and will modify or book a new reservation when I find a better deal. We tend to travel during peak times, and more often than not the rental rates increase significantly as we get closer to the date. For example, last winter break I booked a SUV for our HAwaii trip 8 months in advance. I checked regularly and the rate never went down. By the time we hit roughly 2 months before the trip the price that we paid for the SUV was the same as what the agencies were charging for an intermediate size car. Something similar (but less dramatic) happened with respect to our car rental for our spring break trip to southern CA this year. I have had this type of experience happen too often to wait to book my car rental if my travel plans are set. So I booked my Dec car rental for WDW back in January. :-)

Are you traveling over Christmas or New Year's? If so, book something now and continue to look for better deals. If you wait, prices for that time could go up or the week could get sold out before you are ready to book. As already posted, you can cancel without penalty, so no harm done.

I agree that deals for the earlier part of December won't be out until much closer to the date.

We're planning a trip for the 2nd week in December. Any idea what an SUV might cost? Thx!

I booked our mini van rental back in January. For a week in December before taxes cost $225. Now I look, and before taxes, it's well over $650! I'm glad that I was able to use a great coupon code, unfortunately, that code no longer works for new reservations. I will still keep looking before our trip to see if any better deals are to be had, but I doubt it. I'm happy paying this amount!!:)

Wow! That sounds great! Where did you find your rental code? Thanks!

You just have to google coupon codes for car rentals, that's how I found that great deal. When you find a good coupon, book it, you can always change or cancel if you find something better. I can't remember exactly where I got the coupon, but there's always one to be found. I bet after the summer rush in September, you will be able to find a decent coupon. Good luck! :)

Don't rent from advantage car rental. They company isn't at the airport and it's listed on there website as being at the airport. It was alful when we went. I stood in line for over an hour in Janurary waiting to get my car.
