December 2012 Code Watch

Should I trust the TA hours listed at the link above or the Touring Plans projected hours more for purposes of ADR planning???

so...let me get this straight-Pop Warner week will be that first week in December for sure? We visited in '10,the 2nd week of Dec. but got a deal at BCV,so we only saw a couple of filled up buses with the kids,no big deal. And how do you know where they're staying? I don't want to stay at that hotel.... Is it French Quarter? or just the other side?

Same - we were there the second week in Dec. '10 and they were there. I guess this year it's moved up. Regardless, I know they stay in the values but the overflow usually stay at POR. We checked in there while they were there and the only issues were - 1) crowded at breakfast time 2) An insane amount of "window decorations". Other than that, we never heard them or really saw them. It wasn't that bad in all honesty - and I'm the type that's all about peace and quiet in my room. ;)

Also, we arrived in Dec. '10 during POP Warner and still got Free Dining. Just wanted to mention that because it shows in the past not the entire week of POP Warner was blocked off- maybe it's just certain days? Perhaps closer to the start of POP Warner?

So I got another email from Disney today that had a pin code in it, I'm assuming it is for my dates because the email also listed the vacation plans I had saved online and said book your dates (12/15-12/20) and be sure to mention your pin. That makes 2 that had no info saying what exactly the deal is, so I guess it will just be a surprise when I call to book! Hopefully a VERY pleasant surprise.

Has anyone else got any emails like this? What did the pins end up being for?

You can also go through the link provided in the email to WDW's reservation page. Once there you can tell what the pin code is for. You don't have to book, but you can find out what it is for.

My pin code didn't say what the discount was. I went through the link and found out I had free dining.

So she can check in for all of us, even if we are still in CA? Seems odd to pay for a room I can't use for two days, a suite even, assuming they offer free dining on the suites, but sounds like that might be the only option. Thanks.

She wouldn't be allowed to check in for 2 rooms. Keep in mind too that Disney sporadically asks to see the whole party that is checking in, to keep people honest.

Is this one of those "subject to change" calendars? Someone over on the Theme Park forum was confused over November's calendar. The TA calendar showed different hours compared to the one that is listed on the DISboard's main page and Disney's web page. I'm leaning towards "yes, it's subject to change".

The TA calender is usually the more accurate one.

It's just one room, a suite.

To the others who are in my same boat because of the Mousesavers chart. Good luck to us all the Disney offers FD during that period for at least a few days before revising it.

Just got off the phone with a CM & he said we probably won't see any more 40% codes, b/c the president declared our economy back on track. He said 30% is probably as high as it will get. I was SURE hoping for 40% off  We may want to book 12/11-12/20, to avoid PW. Do we have a pretty good chance of getting some sort of a discount on those dates???

What/where is the Mousesavers chart?

You can't "will" the economy back to good health, as much as some would like to be able to.

Either the bookings will be there to allow them to reduce the discounts...... or they won't. It's all about supply and demand.

It really has more to do with filling rooms than the supposed state of the economy. If the rooms are filling on their own, discounts will be minimal. If it hits a certain date and reservations are below the acceptable level an appropriate discount will be offered depending on how many rooms they need to fill.

The only trend I see right now is they are waiting longer before announcing "specials", which doesn't matter much to me, but stressful for those who like to plan in advance.

Huh? When I look at the historical dates from 11, they offers in 2012 have been out from 1 to 3 months earlier this year.

This is the December thread. FD was released for December in mid August last year. The year before I believe was a good 6 weeks earlier. I would be suprised if we saw a FD promo for December released anytime before August this year and they may even try to hold out longer.

Just checked. FD for Dec. wasn't released until Aug 25th last year and it was released on June 2nd the year before. So, yeah, much later, almost 3 months.

Yeah, I'm referring to the year 2012 vs. 2011. Look at the 2012 release dates compared to last years. Some are coming earlier, so I'm expecting December to do the same. 1 to 3 months earlier than it did in 2011.

Edit: My bad... I didn't realized that the free dining was offered TWICE for 2011. First, in Winter of 2010 and again in May. I was thinking May was the first time it was offered for Aug-Sept In which case, we'd be two full months ahead of that.

We just got a 30% pin code offer in the mail this past Monday for travel 12/1 thru 12/20. Not sure if anyone else has received this yet. The code expires on 6/2.

I'm not holding out much hope for any December discount since WDW is adding resort rooms right and left! If one comes through, I'll revise our reservations. My way of thinking is there's other ways to save some money so the resort room isn't ever going to be a dealbreaker for us:wave2:

We got this through email yesterday & booked 12/4-12/11 last night! I'm going to cancel our Sept reservation tomorrow. We are SO EXCITED!!!! (Praying for cold/cool weather) ;) Now here's hoping for some cheap Tuesday airfare (there AND back.)
