So...I'm hoping & holding my breath that they annouce a FD offer this week. I'll even be thrilled if they only annouce the offer thru Sept/Oct. Because, if they have it at all, it's just ups my hope that they will extend it like they did last year thru the end of the year!!
Of course, if they announce it automatically thru the end of the year, I'd be super thrilled also, lol. But somehow, I'm doubting it will be that way!
I think I better do some math & decide if we're doing 2 rooms at ASMo or 1 room in the AB section of POR. I realize that having the 2 rooms, ie extra bathroom, TV, etc, maybe great but wow, I didn't think it would be such a big price difference.
So, now I'm really not sure.

We're planning for December 16-22 and I hope we get some sort of discount. It will be our last chance to go before my son won't be free anymore. we are open to any moderate or deluxe hotel they will offer the discount on.

speaking of...I got an offer for free dining (for summer) but it said you can only get the dining plan with the counter and table service on Deluxe resorts. Is this the new standard practice?

Are they still handing out discounts for Disney Visa holders anymore?

So I just got off the phone with Disney and I do have the free dining pin for the summer, this lady was very nice. I know they all say different things, but she did ask when I was planning on coming and I told her we can't decide right now.) Oct Nov or December. She said ok, you want to start looking for pins after April 30th, you won't get one for that far out until this one expires!!!! Then she said....we have no idea what the deals will be, if any, but that's when you'd hear anything.

I got the same pin code & I'm *hoping* that it will not be the new norm for the FD but you never know with Disney. We're trying to decide between staying value or moderate now since that was the offer for that pin. Hoping they go back to mods being the reg DDP but I guess we'll see if/when they announce a GP FD discount.
We're also trying to squeeze in a trip while our youngest is still free, lol.
No idea about the Visa holders but it is still listed as one of the perks for having it.

I might have missed something along the way, but I don't think they've had a good deal for Disney Visa holders in a long time.

And I have nothing to base this on, but it sure looks like they want the mods to now be quick service dining. I think the differential to upgrade went up too.

I was hoping to use all of the expert knowledge here as a sounding board. Hopefully you can all give me a totally crazy or he might have something kind of nod.

Assumptions - Free Dining for the same dates as last year in December for this year.

So here it goes. I am booked for Disney from Friday Dec 2 - 11th 2011. I saw that last year the week before and the week after I picked had free dining offered. Since I am getting there Friday and the last day of free dining would be that day. Would then my whole trip the next week be included in free dining? The reason I ask is if the numbers work out I might ask the rest of my family to do that same thing and it might save us pretty decent amount of money.

If anybody has doen this or has any input please let me know.

Traditionally, yes, as long as you checked in during the promotion timeframe for free dining, then the entire stay was covered.

You really have to just understand that there are PIN people in the world, and NO-PIN people in the world. Life is much more peaceful when you can accept that.

I'm patiently waiting for a general public offering. And I've even given up checking that alternate email address I set up under another ID in hopes of getting said PIN............. See? I've totally accepted it!

The only PIN I get is in my sister's name to my email. Disney cannot fix their records no matter how many times I try. I took my sis 5 years ago, and I paid for the entire trip. No PIN for me.
I got tired of waiting, so I am renting DVC points at SSR from Dec 7th to Dec 13th with a chance of changing to OKW at the 7th month window. Its just the two of us and I like the two queens in the studio at OKW.

I have found, unfortunately, I'm a middle of the road pin person. I get tons of them when we can't go, but nothing when I actually have dates planned, lol!

I have seen rumors that checking in on the last day of promotion will not be honored for your entire stay this year but we'll see. I really don't think Disney would do away with that but who knows, it's Disney.

I was looking at the historical dates for discounts for last year. The FD for Oct/Nov/Dec began early July (7/6/10). So, I guess I'm not looking for anything until the beginning of July or so. We'll be at the beach that week, so I guess I'll be spending some of that day on the phone, lol.

No matter what the CMs at reservations say though I won't book early before I have a discount, because I'm afraid of booking up the rooms and having Disney think they don't need a discount to fill them.
